QUOTE (SirWilliam @ Mar 20 2020, 03:31 PM) My thoughts exactly. If I go into the shop for a packet of X and is not in stock then I have to journey to another retailer and another until I actually source it. Now I may have come into contact with maybe a hundred people as opposed to 20 if it was on the initial shelf. They are just not thinking this problem out which is more worrying than the possibility of catching the virus because if they can't plan this how would they manage a real invasion? The slight glimmer of relief is the thought that it could have been clown Corbyn running things. 350000 dead in the UK would be my guess. And a million unable to work again in the 1st wave. Next Winter 2.5M dead. 2 weeks from now you will know what a world of sh1t we are in.

Anyone into gambling taken note of the odds on our survival? They are seldom wrong in their evaluation.

QUOTE (bonnie @ Mar 21 2020, 09:52 AM) I'm still here keeping an eye on you all .Just wanted to say a big thank you to Clare,Michelle and Nicky, the younger members in our close looking out for us old dears.Bless you all. Nice to hear a few positives amongst the crass behaviour being presented by the masses. Seems the "older" generation are far more phlegmatic in the face of adversity, maybe because we have seen it all before and survived, but a lot of the next generation are equally behaving in a sensible manner. Anyway stay safe and when this is over you will know who your friends really are.

John Lewis to shut from Monday evening.. https://www.newburytoday.co.uk/news/news/29...rom-monday.htmlDebenhams was deader than a dead thing today so I suspect they won't be far behind. It's a real shame... I imagine it's costing them more in electricity to keep the escalators going than they're taking over the counter. Camp Hopson swiftly following? The demise of the High Street is ramping up a notch unfortunately.. The people living in the flats above the 'shops' in Parkway will soon be living above empty units. How long is going to take to recover from such a critical financial failure. M&S foodhall was busy enough but the clothing upstairs was dead. How long before that area is closed off? Time to make sure your supply of underpants and socks are in good order

I buy the majority of my clothes in M&S so really hope that section of the store does stay open.

The further we get into this maelstrom the less confidence I have in Boris's handling.

Seeing more and more wearing either dust masks or scarves over their faces and I just wonder how big they think this virus is? The media is still pushing the government line of self isolation with the proviso of food buying, accompanied by film footage of elderly shoppers standing shoulder to shoulder in a bloody long queue. The irony being that the shelves are empty anyway which means some have contracted the virus for no return. Still when they have taken to their bed they won't have any appetite anyway. Does anyone know if supermarket online deliveries are operating "normally"? May be the preferred option to get essentials.

QUOTE (Carshot @ Mar 23 2020, 08:31 PM) Falkland Doctor's Surgery has also "been forced to close for face to face" for two weeks or so due to widespread staff illness. Advice is to ring 111 in the meantime Yep. Expect they all have it. Do you know if the Chemist is still open? People need prescriptions or they'll have more than Corona to worry about!

If you fancy spending half hour in a confined space with a dozen old people coughing and spluttering whilst talking about "her down the road who's no better than she ought to be, have you seen the state of her nets" then go ahead. Be my guest.
