As it's BIG! News at the moment here's an interesting report on electric cars.

It's pointless.China now accounts for 30 percent of the world's emissions and rising. These idiots in London should pay a visit to Tianamen Square to make the protest. I'd tune in to watch that...

If my memory serves me right some of the brakes on Chinese vehicles leave a little to be desired. You are correct though in that we are a small nation who is doing our bit whereas the "big", (in more than one sense), players are charging headlong into the abyss, which makes one wonder if it's worth it.

I would think in time that would change as technology progresses. It’s not a reason to give up.

It's irrelevant unless you get the biggest causes of climate change on board. Sure.. chain yourself to the Chinese and US embassies but don't glue yourself to a train, which ironically is far kinder to the environment than cars.

Personally I think it's too late to prevent the demise of the human race. Had WE started to address the problem 50 years ago,, when the effects were first being noticed, then maybe we could have averted the inevitable but unless the whole planet pulls as one today, (not tomorrow), then it's goodnight Vienna and nice knowing you. As for those idiots who are disrupting London in the misguided belief that anyone is going to take them seriously, I have news for you, no one's listening.

I am afraid Sir Will is correct. Our ability to increase life expectancy and limit global conflicts combined with a massive increase in global living standards across the world has resulted in a population explosion. In effect we are victims of our own success. Mother nature will intervene and this may happen through climate change. I am afraid Newres composting and splitting his rubbish into 7 different bins just ain't gonna make a jot of difference.

Nope, not while China is commissioning one new coal fired power station per week, South America is deforesting the Amazon basin, Americans all wanna drive six liter V8,s because reasons, India is dismantling the world's shipping fleets on its shores, throwing all the poisonous waste back into the sea, Russia doesn't give a **** because, well, Russia. But newres and a bunch of febrile, man made fibre wearing, drive to the edge of London before parking up and getting the tube to the protest, strawberries flown in from Spain eating loons think that driving a Pious is going to solve all the problems. Me, not so much.

Nope just read the report from the scientist, remember science? If you're having a problem with some of the bigger words, the ones with four or more letters in them try asking a grown up for help.

Perhaps we should just have a global lottery and get rid of 75 percent of humans. Be a start. If you are really serious about stopping climate change then....😂

Interesting little fact on the (sir) David Attenborough programme last night was that a third of greenhouse gasses are caused by deforestation. This is a double whammy in that we are not only increasing CO2 but reducing Oxygen production.
Don't worry about your pension snowflakes because you won't be around to collect it.

Yep. Too many people and growing.

Well we could just try to reduce greenhouse gases rather than a mass cull.

Because of China et al. it seems to me to be an even bigger reason to invest in renewables.

A sensible solution at last! The reality is that the population expansion is unsustainable and therefore a mass extinction is the only practical outcome. We don't own the planet, even though we like to think we do, it "tolerates" our existence but will have no qualms about wiping us out if it means saving itself. Maybe in a thousand years or maybe next week but it is going to happen.

What has Sharia Law got to do with climate change? You are obsessed... most "rational" people on this forum understand that the little old UK can't make any difference with regards to it without a global solution.... but crack on yourself if it makes you feel "warm" inside... we'll all be warm soon.😂 Do like these lovely Sunny hot Easter days though.🌝🌞

For all you football fans.

From West Berks Climate Action Network

Here's a football dilemma to think about. Arsenal and Chelsea play each other in the Europa cup final at the end of the month. Arsenal and Chelsea are both based in London, less than 10 miles apart, yet the final is in Baku, Azerbaijan that's a 5500 mile round trip for every fan from either club that attends. It's a 68,000 seater stadium, so you can do the maths. Does anyone else think it's a bit daft setting the venue a year in advance and creating this level of unnecessary air travel and carbon emissions?

Yeah.. but if we make ourselves poor via being green it's fine and we will feel good about ourselves... funny that. I still can't get over the teenagers I saw putting green save the planet placards in the back of a Range Rover after protesting in Newbury. 🤣😂

Climate change is all fake news according to Trump and there’s no point in doing anything according to Farage.

I’d say we should do all we can and lobby other governments to follow suit. It’s like saying there’s no point in tidying my driveway because next door’s is a mess.

And yours will be a mess tomorrow...it's called weather. Yes something should be done but it needs a global solution. Us setting an "example" will just prove fruitless and make everyone a lot poorer than brexit ever would. ..you can always set a personal example if you like and become carbon neutral. Why not tax "driveways"... good idea I've come up with. Must put it forward to the greens...

I think it's quite valid. Reduce your carbon footprint to zero. Show us Gammons how it is done.
