Who's our CON candidate, assuming Benyon sticks to his word and doesn't stand?

ME......Why not? To be honest if my bloody dog wore a blue rosette it would be voted in. Actually come to think of it my "bloody" mut is a socialist as he expects me to feed him, he hogs the fire and contributes sod all to the benefit of the country. The Limp (non) Dems are on the front foot as a useless piece of recycling material landed on my mat on Monday evening, which even the canine companion ignored but, whoever or whatever one thing is certain, it won't solve a darned thing.

The illiberal undemocrats have even got a bl00dy van going round. Why would I vote for a woman whose husbands company benefits considerably from ahem "EU contributions"...??? and what about the environment with all this election crap being taken from the letterbox to the bin..

Least it opens up the debate to more topics than brexit. Never really understood the workings of a campaign manager's brain that lead him to the conclusion that the electorate will be influenced by a sheet of propaganda worthy of Paul Joseph Goebbels, but at least it will save the party activists the unsavory task of knocking doors on a cold November evening.

We're giving the Tories as evens at the moment. Although Keith Vaz hasn't helped Labour image.

If body language is anything to go by Labour know they are going to lose. Little doubt if they had a half decent leader the job would be there for the taking, but the traditional labour voter will probably abstain other than vote for Corbyn even though the left view him as the messiah. Smart money goes on a hanged (sic) parliament and 5 more years of treading mud.

Interpret how you like but we never hear of a bookmaker getting the sums wrong. A fiver each way (lose or lose badly) on the Limp (non) Dems at 66/1 must be worth a punt. Smart money pointing to a high turnout is quite interesting but a foot of snow may change that.

Guess a few bods in tory high command headed for the gas oven when that helpful comment was first heard. Though what he said is, in essence, true it does grate the molars when "johnny foreigner" gets involved in our countries affairs.
Nice to see that JC is offering us the world and those nasty middle class home owners are going to pay for it. Let's hear it for the working man say I. rolleyes.gif

You wouldn't be. You would be casting your vote to select the MP who represents the Newbury constituency in the House of Commons. The majority of prospective parliamentary candidates are affiliated to a political party but only members of that political party are entitled to elect the leader of that party.

I predict we'll get another 600+ self serving people meeting in a big hall in Westminster before Christmas.

I would disagree with that statement. Most MPs are self serving as you correctly point out but there are a few who genuinely care about their constituencies and their constituents and will try to represent their concerns to the best of their ability in Parliament. I have to agree that there are not many of those but they do exist.

Labour are going to introduce a new tax bracket for anyone earning over 80k. Coincidentally MPs salary is £79,468.
My guess is the next time MPS get a rise the band will change as well...😂😂😂

Some p***k from the shadow front bench stated quite openly today that UK billionaires will be banned under a labour government, with their "ill gotten" gains distributed to the needy. What planet are these people from? Anyway I have a mini digger arriving on hire tomorrow so I can hive my savings out of sight in the back garden. laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Wonder what will happen when all the business leaders relocate? I wonder...tax take will go down and the needy will be worse off. I for one am not doing PAYE under Labour. Contracting for me. Had so many offers but have always resisted (as I like to feel paying over 3k in tax a month helps). Hey ho.

Labour have always f****d the economy up, but it usually happens after they have been in office for at least 6 months. These imbeciles aren't even going to try and do it right. Hold on to your hats boys and girls cos it may get a bit choppy in the North Sea.

The real concern is that people with such a poor grasp of basic economics consider themselves qualified to run UK PLC. Still let the yoof vote prevail and they can pay the piper because I am getting too old to care.

A remainer that is towing the party line (for now). I understand whty she has been picked and is obviously an intelligent person.

I do hope though that she doesn't change her mind after the vote and becomes a thorn in the side. Here's hoping! A politician that does what they say...

You know it is getting nasty when one party blames the other for the flooding in Yorkshire. None of them are prepared to stand up and point the finger at those who have encouraged development along the river basin which can only disrupt the natural water flow to the detriment of all. Then of course we have the Libs and Greens, (as in naive), blaming climate change and suggesting by staying chained to the EU we somehow will be "saved". Extreme weather conditions were more prevalent during the 18th century, (which predates the industrial revolution), but no one bothers to research these facts before jumping on the current bandwagon.

Incidentally if you want to see the effects of climate change take a look at the Carnian Pluvial event which was the result of an increase in CO2 and not a single human in sight. (Thankfully). Now that was proper rainfall. laugh.gif

People are allowed to change their mind you know. And if Boris attempts a no deal in 2020 should his deal pass, you'll see it blocked again. The country comes before the party.

I suspect if he inches close to no deal, that healthy majority will disappear. The Tories would take decades to recover it no deal lived up to just about everyone's predictions.
