For all of you out there who still indulge in real xmas trees, I heartily recommend getting your tree from Yattendon Estate, i't's obviously been a good growing year this year with trees in excellent condition. And very helpful friendly service as well.

This has been a turin top tip.

My tip is not to buy at Yew Tree as they wilt very quickly, assuming they are the same supply as the last two years. Within a day or two they were wilting.

Best plan is to ignore xmas completely . Sir W's top tip . wink.gif

Always buy mine from yattendon, take it home, saw an inch from the base and leave it standing in a bucket of water till it's needed. Never put it next to a heat source and try and keep it watered. Basically treat like a cut flower. Always lasts to new year. Triffic!!

No - don't ignore it, just put it off for a month. By mid January Christmas trees are readily found on a bin near you. You can recycle all those cards folk sent you in December and buy all those Christmas goodies as the stores are slashing prices to dump them.

Even better, if the 25th is on a weekday, the kids will be at school for most of the day so you won't have to put up with their ludicrous expectations all day.

Failing that just inform them that the family has changed it's religious leanings . I understand islam is quite popular at the moment and you get to carry a carpet round with you .

They will probably ask what religion has to do with it.

Big advantage of yatty is you can pick out a tree before it's wrapped, saves that getting it home, pulling the netting off and saying 'oh dear, never mind' moment

Ha! Yes, we have a house with a really tall entrance hall and it's one of the few places we can reliably get one tall enough to fit. Nice people too.

Yes, I'd go along with that. Difficult to get a decent size elsewhere.
