I'd say it was more of a surprise that Obama survived. It's the right that tends to have the nutters.

What's Corbin got to with it? You're obsessed! Kennedys, Luther King?

It's not just the right who has the nutters, with Corbyn copying Trump! Or are you deaf to that thundering irony storm?

It does rather look as if its your good self labouring under under the burden of obsession. Still, never mind.

I'm no fan of Corbyn - he's too left for me. I was making the obvious point that it tends to be left leaning US politicians that are under threat. I reckon Obama was lucky to survive. The new president was questioning his nationality don't forget with the Birther movement. Seriously, with the video of his cruel impression of a disabled person as well, he really is not fit for public office. I'd never seen the video before yesterday.

Ummm

But then it may just be that at long last they have a President willing take a stand against the horror that is the US secret service...

Well he wasn't complaining when Hilary Clinton was on the receiving end. Why would the secret services turn on him now? This stuff was apparently out there before the election.

strangely enough, a number of commentators seem to be warming to his Presidency. Strange but true. He thought to be a strong President who will put The USA first. Perhaps that's the answer, perhaps not. In the end only time will tell. Just as long as some rabid leftie with a gun and a grudge doesn't 'JFK' him.

Nice! Getting ready to celebrate the murder of someone on the basis you don't agree with his views. Lovely.

I think that would be a valid question if Clinton had won aswel, as she had upset most of of the close protection officers from the US Secret Service to the extent that may of them refused to be assigned to protect her.

Given that Trump has effectively accused the CIA & FBI of lying, he is already upsetting those senior miliatary officers at the Pentagon with his love in with Putin. I would think he has got a pretty big target on him. But as is the seemingly the way with Trump, I am actually pretty **** surprised he has survived now, if he is alive at the weekend it will be interesting to see if he manages to see out a full term, for some strange reason I don't think he will!

Still Trump, might be like Tony Blair, be teflon coated and proof that you can indeed polish a ****!
On the edge
Actually, if people listened to ALL Trump says, they'd find he isn't nearly as maverick as they might imagine. For instance, as he says, he wants to negotiate with Putin, so its rather sensible to start off on a friendly basis because you are more likely to be able to achieve far more and then, only if necessary get tough. And as we know, he can get tough. Do we really want another cold war with the lunatic fringe in the States itching to let off more nuclear weapons? I'd argue that the biggest danger to World security are the yo yo's who inhabit the CIA and FBI.
Turin Machine
Trump and Putin, hmm, probably slightly like slipping in two blocks of subcritical uranium to a toddler's toybox. Eventually he's going to smash them together. Might not happen today, or tomorrow, but it's inevitable and will be apocalyptic.

....and so, even more illustrates the need for them to calm down and talk to each other as reasonable adults.

So the abhorrent murder of MP Jo Cox is a cause for mourning, but the murder of Donald Trump is cause for a bottle of bubbly? Irony fail!

One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.

My bubbly is reserved for celebrating his being a successful tenure, but I fear it wont get opened in the next 8 years.

I was being lighthearted and I don't care if you're offended. I wouldn't wish him murdered, but I wish him gone. He is not fit for any office.

Not that we haven't had similar issues, but we are better at covering up and pretending!

And Hillary was I suppose? Ahh, none so blind. Still if nothing else, after his speech it might be an interesting 100 days. I wish we had a politician with the balls to say Britain first! But oh no,too right wing for the weeping liberal Masses

I have to say that if I were a blue collar worker with no job, living in the Rustbelt, on welfare stamps then I would be buoyed up by his speech.

Meanwhile the rest of the world quakes in its collective boots. I don't think I have ever heard a more isolationist speech.

England must be one of the few nations not liked by its own people. That makes them think other nations don't like themselves either.

I haven't a clue what you mean, and it has nothing to do with my comment. If America turns inwards, withdraws from the climate change agreement, promotes more use of fossil fuels, becomes protectionist, puts up trade barriers and withdraws from foreign involvement then the rest of the world suffers.

But that's not quite what he said. Protectionist? Trade Barriers? the EU is one of the worst offenders there. Climate Change Agreement? Oh yeah!, so long as you don't look too closely at the get outs certain nations have managed to slip in, who are also 'eating' fossil fuels right now. So in Amercian eyes; it seems the rest of the World has been taking the p***. As has been said, if I was 'Joe Average' that's exactly what I'd want to hear the President say.

This man really has taken the British public for all he can get.

Yes, nice touch of irony you've spotted there User! Indeed, the very reason why the EU are getting snotty about us going.

If I heard correctly this morning, Trump wants to be invited over (unfortunately this probably has to happen) and to play the 9-hole golf course at Balmoral with the Queen watching him. (Probably wants Prince William to caddy for him as well.)

Mind, she's well used to boorish guests; the Blairs, the Cleggs, all those 'interesting' dictator types the FO are so keen to crawl up.
