Is it just me, or is 3G coverage in the Newbury/Thatcham area from Vodafone and O2 really flaky (and even non-existent in places)?

Has anyone got a recommendation for a decent 3G service to use in an iPad?

Well compared to where we have just been on holiday (Near Bideford in Devon) Newbury has absolutely brilliant 3G. I think we should think ourselves lucky that we can access it anywhere in the town albeit a little slow sometimes.

No, not just you.
I've unfortunately been on O2 for ages. Probably spent thousands on them. On my Iphone 4, I struggle to get 3g in what I would consider major built up areas, in Thatcham, where the big field is, near the train station - no 3g. In Agricola Park, no signal, I don't even get 3g signal in my office half of the time.

When I do get 3g it's always slow.

o2 is not very good, I'm considering going to 3 for the all-you-can-eat data.. especially as with o-poo you only get 500mb, which is nothing really these days..

I'm happy - often showing 3.5.........

My phone often fails to send texts without a couple of attempts sitting at home. I have data turned off and rely on WiFi for connectivity, since my current contract doesn't include data. However, an upgrade is due in just over a week.

Very tempted by the Galaxy S3 - just read an 18 page review on it smile.gif

It's massive though, the S2 is a big phone, but the S3 is just too big. I suppose it's ok if you have big man hands...

I'm waiting for the next iPhone. Fingers crossed it is announced in September smile.gif

I like the s2, the s3 is more of a 'phablet'. Neither fish nor fowl.

Yes that's the only thing that would put me off. The specs are great though. Being a bit of a nerd, I plotted the relative sizes of the HTC Wildfire (my obsolete current phone), the Galaxy S2 and S3 on graph paper, and there is actually not much visible difference between the S2 and the S3, though there is a huge jump from the Wildfire to the S3.

Being a supernerd, I even cut out a cardboard rectangle the same size as the S3 to see how it fitted in my hand before I get to play with one in the flesh, as it were. Still, I suppose 10 million people (allegedly) can't be wrong.

No.... Those that just use their phone and those that must have the latest whistles and flutes. Why pay a marketing department when customers scrabble to have 'the latest'?

It must be your phone then Timbo. I have a HTC HD7 with OS windows 7.5. Never had a problem getting a signal anywhere with O2.

Yes you are right, and it really pisses me off that the likes of BBC don't recognise what a good OS it is. That's just stupid considering the majority of desktops/laptops are MS based.

I detect another swing from the OP here!

Well, if Apple has its way, that will be the only alternative. The result was never really in doubt - all-American Apple vs. nasty foreign South Korean Samsung. I wonder how many of the jury have iPhones?

Perhaps. But if I put an o2 simcard in my Galaxy S2 it still is broken.

Maybe I wasn't clear.
I have an iPhone 4 personal and a Galaxy S2 work.
iPhone is on 02 (mine) and Galaxy is on Vodafone (work).

There is the problem - fencing acts as a huge Faraday cage.

In fact I am only half joking. I know people who have trouble with their remote car locking up there!
