Do you think these serve any purpose? Will it keep the offender out of Newbury? I doubt it very much...

Also and I quote... 'He will also be prohibited from using intimidating, abusive or threatening words or gestures towards any person in a public place.'

I would have thought we were all prohibited from doing this or is it Ok now for Joe Public to use intimidating, abusive or threatening words or gestures when in town?

He should have been put in prison. He is obviously a danger to the public. This sentence only serves to put the public at risk from someone who clearly doesn't give a to*s about the law.

Exactly my thoughts.

How is he going to be prohibited? Would you know him if he did it to you.

These punishments are an joke and we are all crazy to put up with it.

Which of the parties standing in the forthcoming general election will do something about it? rolleyes.gif

How are we to know who this person is if they don't publish a photo as well? At least then a breach of the ASBO could be reported.

I know that kid. I had trouble from him. He attacked somebody's house with snow balls and the person who was living inside as well. When reported to the police they did nothing. In fact they weren't even interested.

ASBO's won't work. To some they are like a badge of honour. many kids were I live have been slapped with ASBO's and are still running around causing trouble.

I agree. An ASBO won't stop him.

The thing is - He is not a mischevous kid. He is an 18 year old adult.

Quite agree. He has been banned from the town centre, an area with a fair Police presence, security people and CCTV. Dont think he is the type to sit at home watching Corrie so, if he obeys the order, he will be causing problems near one of our houses. Should have been sent down.

Yes we are all prohibited - but only likely to be fined or cautioned if we offend.

Having an ASBO ups the available penalty quite considerably.

As an aside, as a governor of the school concerned, I dealt with this young man's various exclusions. He was a violent bully then.

The thing is, one can see the potential rogues from a young age, yet they appear to be able to pass through the system until it is clearly too late. The system seem to just be waiting until people like him end up killing someone before they are finally taken out of the system. I wonder what didn't happen that could have happened that might have prevented him (and his kind) from making people's life a misery for years.

I assume it must be. I don't think I'm that far gone that I would have posted what I did if a photo had been staring me in the face at the time. smile.gif

That is simple; if he causes trouble he goes back in.

I truly belive in National Service. Join him up - train him up - ship him out to a war zone and lets see how he copes with that. Get the Sgt Major on his back. Trouble is even the army seems to be ruled by this cotton wool society.
