So how will Tesco get their deliveries ! huh.gif

They've already got their building and are in it. I understand they have the same issue but are fighting from a completely different position. I believe they also have smaller lorries, I assume they must have something smaller to deliver to Northfield Rd and other smaller stores.

There appears to be some activity inside the old Woolworths this morning with a shopfitters van parked outside. My Northbrook St correspondent tells me that they are turning it into a Wilkos. Anyone confirm this story, please?

I've seen people in the building as well. They've been taking down the old shelving since last week.

I noticed that; workmen in the old Woolworths building. Hopefully something will start moving now.

Brilliant, about time too!

I have notice some grey, metal frames in the window recently that were not there until this month.

Looks life this ****-hole could be turned into something worthwhile.

Walked past there yesterday and no sign of life inside at all. In fact, it looks a right mess so doubt Wilkos are about to open shop anytime soon, if at all. The old Woolworths in Andover re-opened the other day as a Poundland

Last October, a Wilkinson spokesman, who refused to be named, said they were “nearly signed up” to finalising a deal on leasing the building, but that access for deliveries to the rear of the store were proving to be a stumbling block due to the Park Way development work.
In response to rumours about recent activity around the building, which has been empty since Woolworths vacated it in December 2008, Wilkinson spokesman Peter Woodall has released the following statement: "Wilkinson is not able to say, at this point in time, whether or not it is interested in taking over the former Woolworths shop in Newbury."
Spokesman for London estate agents, Stephen Smart & Co, Ian Ruthbridge, told Newburytoday.co.uk that the store was simply being cleared out.
“We are not moving anyone in there,” he said
