I think that the Conservatives are better with the economy than Labour because they encourage private sector investment and generally maintain a pretty lean public sector, unlike the previous Labour government who actually increased the number of public sector jobs while in office.

Is less doctors and nurses and police officers a good thing? Personally I think we should all be paying more tax.

You can always donate to the NHS fella. Just go to the cashiers office at any hospital. They will accept donations.

Do you not think we should spend more on it? Or are you more for the Farage approach and scrap it?

Depends what you mean by "more"? And how this extra money is invested. I don't particularly want to pay for cosmetic surgery such as breast enhancements but would be happy to pay more for things like Cancer treatments.. It's not as simple as you make out.

I think you're being ridiculous. As if any one in the current crisis would be advocating more money for breast enhancement.

Compare waiting times now to the end of the last Labour government and try to remember that it isn't just "other people" that suffer poor service and outcomes through a lack of resources.

How much is your more though? And how is it going to be raised? I have no doubt you just want to raise tax on anyone who earns more than you.🤣

I think it's the basic rate that needs to go up actually.

An extra 5% across all bands? Something like that.

5 percent. Wow. Is all that extra revenue going to just the NHS?
Surely most of it will have to go in social security as everyone will be skint.

Not just the NHS, but also education, police and so on. Mind you, they will have to go up if we Brexit with no deal.

Oh, by the way, I wonder how S****horpe's Brexit voters are feeling at the moment? They won't be the last Brexit voting northern town to pay the price.

Yep. It's all brexit. Nothing to do with a 120 million Bill to the EU for carbon emissions. Norhing to do with China makung more steel in a year than we have in history. Nithing to do with the EU stopping government intervention. Nope.. it's all down to Brexit voters.

No one's advocating more money for breast enlargement, however a great deal of the budget does go on nonsense like this, my own personal favourite would be a scaled down version of the NHS for accident and emergency and introduce health insurance. Works in France.

No, I think that more doctors and nurses and police officers are a good thing. I would be more than happy to pay extra income tax to fund extra positions in all of these areas. However, I think that more office based civil servants at both central and local government level are a bad thing.

Careful James, you'll go on the newres "list".😂

Let's be clear, I absolutely deplore Brexit in all its forms - soft, hard or otherwise. However, I don't think that Labour are the solution to the problem.

The EU was never the problem although it's blamed for everything. Many of the problems we're seeing are caused by insufficient funding.

In this instance I was referencing the problem of Brexit but I completely agree that the neglect of the entire northern half of this country has contributed to an overwhelming feeling of dissatisfaction, which has been played on and encouraged by those who favour Brexit.

I wonder whether the people of S****horpe are regretting the way they voted in the referendum? When you think, they were told that we’d be better off, we’d get the “easiest trade deal in history” and three years later 20,000 jobs gone.

Is The Spectator the magazine the BJ was the editor of?

Brexit is a full on disaster. One of the prospective BREXIT MEPs reckons short term (30 years) Brexit will have a negative impact on our economy.

It’s lost orders because of the uncertainty surrounding Brexit. Didn’t you know that? Or that the crash in sterling as a direct result of the Brexit vote has impacted it. Sorry, I thought you followed the news.
