Hope not; I’m skinny enough already.

Who'd a thought it, the way your stubby little digits mash against the keyboard?

GF still has no problem using car she's far less stressed too. She shares journey with a couple of friends so it even costs less. Might be worth thinking about because the trains aren't going to get any better.

No good for AC I'm afraid, apparently he didn't get the memo about those big garishly yellow boxes on poles at the roadside being speed cameras.

It's 22 times safer by rail than by car.
UK railways are the safest in Europe if not the world.
5 people a day killed on roads, no rail passenger killed through fault of operator / NR since 2007.
Something perhaps to take into consideration?? unsure.gif

Terrorism or suicide by car is the only danger on the train. Got to say that the improvement in safety is to be commended.

22 October 201, in Liverpool. Passenger was killed when the guard gave the all clear to depart when the passenger was leaning on the train. Still a low casualty rate though.

201AD was quite some time ago. Presumably the cause of death was chariot related?

It was 2012
She was intoxicated and technically not a passenger on a train.
Anyway my point remains.

Does anyone know the cause of the recent Barns Green incident? I have not heard of an automated crossing ever failing but that is not to say it hasn't though I am always very careful when using one, just in case.

That's a good point, but we all take risks all the time. She claims she's in relatively slow moving traffic anyway so any accident will hurt that car more than her - sees that as low risk. Her biggest benefits are reliability and comfort; not been late once since using the car.

Yet!! laugh.gif
I dread setting out on a journey by car. The inevitable jam because some van has had a puncture, with no escape on motorway / dual carriageway!
You see all those brake lights in front of you, sigh, and have to accept the consequences. angry.gif
(Unless, of course, you are on a bike. Then 22,000 times more dangerous than the train! tongue.gif )

Today’s after 8 is the 0834, which departed at 0901. Made worse because I purposely bought a peak ticket to entitle me to catch it (I was intending to catch the first off-peak, but it was made late by the 0834), but they invited off-peak ticket holders to use the train too, so Ive been ripped-off 3 quid already.
