Thankfully he meant Newark: had visions of it being impossible to walk along Northbrook Street without being assaulted by TV crews looking for vox pops, although I suppose they could have interviewed the chuggers.

Well, that's a good thing, then. But it's more important that those who don't support UKIP get out and vote in the forthcoming Euro elections however uninterested they are, otherwise UKIP gets a free ride.

Well hitherto the EU has had a politcal free ride; it is about time it came under pressure to reform and that is how I see the value in parites like UKIP.

UKIP has the worst voting and attendance record of ANY party in the European Parliament. Difficult to see how that's going to help change Europe politically, and didn't they just vote against a Ivory Trade clampdown?

As for the Bye-Election, well at the last Election Farage was beaten by a man dressed as a dolphin, perhaps that's why he seems to have bottled this opportunity.

Nah, let's be honest, what UKIP do is pander to the racists, xenophobes, and just plain ignorant. People who either can't be bothered to look up the full facts or are too daft to understand what's really going on. Forget the Daily Mail reader profile, UKIP now has the lead in 'dog-whistle' racism (as it's known in the States). Few people will vote for them because of their policy on bankers bonuses, civil partnerships, deficit and debt plans, fox hunting or fishing quotas.
Farage has been cultivating the Barclay brothers as backers, and with their help, he will doubtless move onwards and upwards.

I don't think that description stops at UKIP supporters to be honest. While I wouldn't want to see UKIP in power, nor do I believe they ever will be, but I resent how our politcal leders have lead us in a direction stamping roughshod over the democratic process in doing so.

The recent EU debate with Nick Clegg should have been a piece of cake, but the Lib Dem was just short of vacuous and pathetic. Although both sides were guilty of just trotting out half truths and rhetoric.

I'm guessing it is showing how loyal each UK party is to the larger pan-EU grouping it has joined in the EU parliamnet. Showing that UKIP go their own way pretty much all the time, regardless of any agreement they may have with the larger group.

In some ways an attractive trait and one that supports their general stance. However, it also shows how unlreliable they would be as a partner in any coalition.
