Received Highways Agency letter today, as no doubt some others will have.Website for more details not active as yet, but will be I hope as commencement date gets closer. http://www.highways.gov.uk/a34beedonbridgeAlso 29/10 to 14/11 50mph limit applies on sections north of J13/M4, and lane closures at night.

What's with the sporadic random underlining and italics?

QUOTE (Claude @ Oct 11 2013, 09:05 AM) Thanks for the warning, although it shouldn't impact me I do frequently take trips to hospital in Oxford at unusual times so this is useful to know. The emergency services will be able to cope with this and have well practised processes and procedures. I suspect what Mr Brown is getting at is the way the announcement is made, an unqualified 'massive disruption', and claims that the web site isn't up. This isn't the first time, by any means, that parts of the A34 has been closed at night. Actually, the news should be quite positive; big benefits to motorists as A34 brought up to scratch. Good to know that road repairs are happening!

Now in NWN with more meat; it's surprising how much traffic travels the route in those hours, and diversion is a b**++dy roundabout route to follow. http://www.newburytoday.co.uk/2013/more-ch...th-a34-closures

And what stupid route planner have you checked? Maps.google.com A -> Southampton (goes to Southampton Uni) B -> Northampton (goes to Northampton Uni) Even looking at it on the Map, why would you put a loop into what is otherwise basically a straight line. From Newbury, to go to Northampton (And trust me as I go very regular to that area for shows and what not) it is only a few minutes longer in time, but another 25 miles or so, to go M4-M25-M1.
