Waitrose Newbury has been selected out of all their stores to trial a mini Garden Centre.

When I saw "pilot", I thought helicopter. But then the air ambulance charity have been apparently banned from collecting there.

The John Lewis Partnership are already into plant sales, though not through the Waitrose brand, so that's a bit of a departure - if you want to see what they do take a trip down to Longstock, worth a trip just for a mooch about really. It's not a garden centre, it's a plant nursery, so there's none of the machinery and stuff you get in a garden centre, but they have a good range of plants, including aquatics. I'll be interested to see what they're planning.
