Tesco unleaded was 135.9p this weekend. Prices in Wiltshire were as low as 129p on Friday. Fuel retailers continue to give our MP the finger.

Err - give US the finger you mean?

What else can our MP actually do? Its over to you now - start using the alternative outlets and getting others to the same. The only reason fuel companies do this is because we let them; its called market forces.

If I were you, I'd delete the strap line you added. It simply makes you and by implication, the rest of us look daft. We wouldn't have seen any such interaction with his predecessor because he didn't ever do anything!

We have always had higher fuel prices here in Newbury / West Berks.
(See other threads on this subject.)
Seems it is based on local affluence and ability to pay!! rolleyes.gif
Perhaps we need an ASDA! unsure.gif

It's down to the fact that we don't have a fuel discounter locally. Morrisons or ASDA typically drive lower fuel prices.

If I can I will fill up at Reading shell with some V-Power but otherwise just use BP. I shop at Sainsburys and fill up with Ultimate.. so I get double nectar points on the fuel and also get the rewards of the shopping.
Store loyalty cards are stupid in terms of what you spend vs what discount you get however if you happen to just use certain retailers it seems a bit daft to not take advantage. laugh.gif

Depends which part of Wilts you are talking about, Sherlock. Being a Wilts resident these days, I travelled back to Newbury last week to visit a friend and was amazed at the petrol prices in town. I took advantage of the considerably lower petrol price, and filled up!

It's very rewarding having a wife who works in Tesco's.
She very often gets the discount vouchers from non driving customers. Only the other day, I had a 40 pence per litre saving. That was just over £20 off a £67 bill! rolleyes.gif

Do tell what the nature of this 40p off a litre voucher was.

You buy certain products, eg packets of coffee or big bags of pasta, and get vouchers off fuel. 10p per deal item.
You can stack them so a while ago my mate paid £22 for like 65 liters of fuel haha.

Or eight vouchers at five pence each (my favourites)

I had to take my one year old car into the garage last Saturday because it was jumping about like a demented frog and misfiring. The first question to me was "have you filled up at one of the supermarket filling stations" yes was my reply, I always go there to get my points to receive my £5 voucher. The garage guy said that I was the umpteenth person reporting the same trouble. He then told me that the supermarket fuel suppliers do not put the same amount of additives in the diesel to stop it waxing. Fuel waxing is just like having water contamination in the tank. Should have said the freezing weather causes the waxing. I will not be buying supermarket diesel during the winter again.
