I couldn't help but giggle over my Bran Flakes at a new French chap inspecting the Coldstream Guard of Honour
Half the size of the Redcoat.
The chap in white plumes behind the inspection had a grin to cheer any morning. (Most likely a stiff pink one)

Well the 'PC' police on this forum are really p***ing me off. You can't have an opinion without being accused of being some sort of extremist. So I thought I may as well join in with the back biting and nonsene.

Cheer up chaps. Napoleon was a bit short as well. He managed to conquer most of Europe.
Just a giggle on yet another wet day. If we here in the land of Harry of Bolingbrook can be called a
nation of shopkeepers there is nothing wrong with calling ze frogs a bit short.
Xenophobia is all greek to me. "Buddy can you spare a drachma?"

I had a good laugh about that photo yesterday NM. I know guardsmen are tall, but I think they must have made an effort to find a really big one, and I saw the chap in the feathered hat chuckling too.

You were accused (rightly imo), of making a racist comment, nothing more. Perhaps you should loosen up a little - you're on holiday.

Have you seen the news this week? Allegations of racist comments land people in court. Those accused should loosen up a little?

I think it was quite clear, and it's still in writing on the Vodafone torch thread. If you are referring to the John Terry case, I suggest you read the summing up from the judge.

Slightly off topic, And nothing to do with Newbury, WBC, Vodaphone (which I use)
or even Parkway.

Apart from my perhaps off the cuff comment about Tall Dark and Handsome Guardsmen.
And shortish Presidents. The only one worth his salt was Asterix the Gaul.
The other one was tall and a pain "Non".

I like the French. I can read it reasonably well. Order a piece of cheese in a market.
I don't speak it very well, but then nobody makes sense of my English either.

I do think we have to keep a sense of humour.
After all I went to school in Port Moresby. (PNG).
Today it was reported that a bunch of highlanders were arrested for
eating other folk. The brains were eaten raw, and the lower bits stewed.

Step up Jamie Oliver.

It couldn't be a racist comment; the French are not of a different race.

I sincerely hope they are not in the slightest 'English'!!!!

Mind you, if they are not a different race, does that mean I can call them consumers or processed rancid cream, and also - while having the appearance of tree dwelling mammals more likely than Tommy Atkins to give in when challenged?

Err, Napoleon wasn't short at all. He was 5'6" - 5'7". Above average for the early 19th C.
