Letter from postie today announcing possible changed service we can or cannot expect to see;
comes from the new Royal Mail Delivery Manager for Newbury area.
Anyone else had??

Address on letter is unhelpfully a PO Box in Plymouth.

No local phone which they guard jealously, just the normal 0845 routine.

Apparently there may be changes in delivery times ..or not, depending on where you
are on the new delivery route.

There may be a change in your postie..or not.

"We'll continue to deliver in the morning and for a longer period during the day".

"Many customers will continue to get their mail by lunchtime"- very long
time since we got before 1.30/ 2.00pm.

"..when mail volumes vary, I may need to adjust arrangements & times".

So that means delivery times can be varied as & when Royal Mail feel the need.

We wait with baited breath! sad.gif

Sounds awfully vague sad.gif
Any chance you can scan/photo and upload the letter?

Basically it seems that they are going to change everything and they're not sure and they'll try to get your post in time but if not he'll need to "adjust" the times, basically it's good bye any items of post you want sent via Royal Mail.

I can remember when I used to get 2 deliveries a day, 1 in the morning and a 2nd in the afternoon all I get now is 1 and that doesn't arrive till the afternoon and they say that the price increases will improve efficiency.

Perhaps you could

scan the "letter"

on to your computer and post it on here? That way

we could all see it. wink.gif

Are we really worried about having a just one delivery a day and probably not before breakfast or is it simply nostalgia? Appreciate there may be business issues but that's really a separate issue and can be dealt with by separate contract. Lets face it, the letter post is a declining business. Those nice red vans and serge uniforms really go with steam engines and Fullers cakes for tea - so very 1950s! happy.gif

I did have a similar letter over Christmas, varying times of delivery according to circumstances.
The main change was if we could have large post delivered to either an out of the way corner,
(not a wheelie bin), or a neighbours house, to save heading for a collection point miles away.

I sometimes have gardening offers through the post, and in the past there has been no
problem putting things out of sight, but a 52"plasma that could not fit through the letterbox
might be tricky.
