He was England's number one goalkeeper for 15 years (75 caps) in the national football team. He played for Arsenal from 1990 - 3003 (325 games) and is widely considered to be one of the best ever.
But he was named after a reproductive ooze..
Also I feel that he would be one of the "best ever" if he played professional football for 1013 years, although that only works out as about 3 games per year... So not the best if I'm honest.
