sad.gif sad.gif There seem to be a Lack of toilets facilities in Newbury. At the Newbury carnival I was shocked that there were no portable toilets, as by mid afternoon, the public toilets around Newbury seemed to be closed, this includes Victoria Park. At Goldwell, NorthCroft and Victoria parks I witnessed young children having to go to the toilet in the bushes, and well as a few old grown adults. It's about time this council opened up toilets in all parks to be opened all day, including sundays. The people of Newbury deserve better, especially as we seem to be paying quite a high council tax.

You are telling me! When we had the carnival people were using the trees as toilets and I heard other people moaning about a lack of toilet facilities. The one in Victory Park is filthy and all the 'lovely boys' congregate there for a tickle. Doesn't the one in the Wharf charge?

I'm fed up of this aswel, you see toilets around but their either shut or just full of... erm, bits of toilet tissue and stains on the floor with a looming smell like someone hasn't flushed properly or blocked the toilet. I'm sorry to say but i only believe that toilets are shut through out the night because it stops people going in there and having sexual pleasures and doing drugs... but we can all do that somewhere else, so why lock the toilets? We have a law here where we can't expose our selves so we can't pee up (or down) a tree... and so we have toilets locked. What else do you want us to do Council? Break the law? Or just go home? Well, there are homeless people around Newbury, i've seen them.

So who is with me on keeping the toilets around newbury open 24/7?
If they get vandalised... the council will learn from their mistakes.

I think they should be open all the time. Either that or people will use the bushes, doorways or up against the wall. The council must decide.

Possibly not all the time. During the day, say from 8 till 8 seems reasonable to me.

I wasn't talking about me, but putting that to one side for the moment; i don't drink, but I am a diabetic which means you need the toilet a lot more than usual. wink.gif There is also the problem of older people who also need the toilet a lot more.

I would suggest that most people who are in town after 8pm are probably going for a meal, going to the pub, or going to see something at the corn exchange. As all of these have toilets anyway, people probably aren't really going to the public ones anyway?

True; but on another forum there was another thread that had said that quite a few people noticed people using the bushes to go to the toilet etc.

Whats the harm in the council actually buying some porta loos and placing them somewhere convenient? Seriously, this would be great, but you would obviously need to employ someone to come along and to take your crap away, unless they can be perminantly piped up to take your crap to the sewer.
