QUOTE (GMR @ May 9 2011, 06:02 PM) Occasionally I have to go to London on business and I've had to use the Taxi (leaving the car at home) and I've noticed that the Taxi fares have gone up. I'm sure you are right......... Train station parking is very cheap.......

I have to agree, if you have to travel by car it's now cheaper to drive and park at the station. If you are able, bike in or walk in and do the same at the other end or use the tube!!!

Never seen one on the cattle run that the commute becomes - especially east of Reading. Those 'frail old ladies' have pointy elbows and sharp umbrella.......

It's interesting how we have a thread with references to 1st Class and Standard Class - presumably this is how the rail companies term them? Don't they think that people will want to travel 2nd Class?

Don't they think that people will want to travel 2nd Class? With first great western terminating their contract early, will we have any trains?

QUOTE (Jayjay @ May 12 2011, 02:57 PM) With first great western terminating their contract early, will we have any trains? That is a commercial 'ploy' to enable them to get a longer tenure now (if selected) so an investment programme can start now and not be wasted by the tenure not being renewed in a couple of years time. They want assurance re return on investment.
