Has anyone given Radio Berks a go recently? It's radio gold.

Every day on the Breakfast show they have two phone ins.

Today:

Have you been raped? Does no really mean no? Give us a call.

Or

Have you ever bought anything off the telly? From the shopping channels? Give us a call

I couldn't get Newbury Sound earlier today so thought I would try Radio Berks. I was slightly mortified when I heard the rape question, only because of the way it was talked about. Myself and the other girl in the office decided to quickly turn the radio off.

Did anyone phone it about it? I hope not, didn't seem serious enough to me. In fact it was very distasteful, 'Hey, phone in about rape of shopping'.

Was the phone in in response to the news on the increase in rapes in the area?

I heard the news on Newbury Sound this morning and it reported a huge rise in the number of rapes "committed" in the area.

It then went on to say that police "investigated a larger number".

Pedantic I know but there is a difference between the number of any incident reported and the number that actually happened.

And no, before anyone jumps at me I am not in any way shape or form condoning such crimes and I personally believe that there are still some offences for which the death penalty should apply and rape is one of them.

I listen to BBC Berkshire every morning, mainly because I commute a long distance and the traffic reports are much better than any other station.

I only listened to bits and pieces of the phone-in this morning. Whilst it was difficult listening it was a very serious and important subject.

It was promoting the campaign 'Don't cross the line' - http://www.dontcrosstheline.co.uk/

I think it's main goal was to change the usual campaign ethos. Most rape campaigns seem to put pressure on women to be more vigilant, thereby making them feel they are at fault. However, this campaign seems to be targeted at men and making them aware that they should not 'cross the line' and any such actions will be punished.

The phone-in was difficult listening but this type of crime is the lowest form of scum, and any awareness campaign should be supported.

I think it coincides with the Xmas party season too, which seems to see a rise in cases every year.

There was one the other week too which went.

Have you recovered from a terminal illness? Call us now and tell us your story.

(not kidding!)

...and of course we end up paying for this absolute b*******. No wonder the BBC's credibility with most thinking people is just above zero.

Oh and I nearly forgot this real peach....."Have you ever been in an ambulance? Call now."

It's worth a chuckle...tune in and post them on here.
