Well its only through past experience. Been burgaled twice. Both times got given a crime number and some post about how to secure my property correctly. As once they broke a window to get in I'm not certain that I want to put Iron shutters / bars on the windows! sad.gif

Oh, I believe it. Last year I had the police come to my house because there was - allegedly - a fight there between me and my son (somebody dialled 999). Well, my son doesn't live at home. The phone caller said (which was supposed to be from my son) that my name was Glenn Hicks (which it wasn't); however, the police asked for his date of birth (which he gave his own) and the local police recognised the voice. But nothing happened to him... he just got a warning. So our friend in your story was on safe grounds; he probably just got a slapped wrist.

I would say that in the case of this origanal post, the police did a good job. They caught and they charged and it went to the magistrates.

Not quite sure what you're on about there, GMR. The post was about the burglars being so daft that they used a stolen card to have something delivered to their own address, thereby guaranteeing they would be caught.

Perhaps I should have explained that in the original post, but then it wouldn't have been funny. Doh.
