The outrageous actions of Gaddafi and his gung-ho adventurism have gone on far too long.

He has long been an enemy of Britain; supplying weapons to terrorists like the IRA and many others, bombing innocent people in discos and carrying out a long standing international criminal conspiracy.

But now, this lunatic is taking things to a new level; genocide of his own people.

The international community is taking far to long to tackle this tyrant. He should have been killed in the 1980s but now its time to do the job for good. A few well aimed cruise missiles and a week of hard air strikes should help the resistance and then we need to make sure democratic governance is secured.

If things go on much longer, Gaddafi may have killed thousands more and the hopes for democracy could be eliminated in Libya.

Regretably, I think we have to let them 'get on with it'.

Ditto Zimbabwe, Burma, Eritrea, Sudan, Turkey.

But at least Gaddafi wears some cool uniforms.

You can't go stealing a countries oil, under the guise of a humanitarian intervention willy nilly. It takes time...

bombing innocent people in discos

Do you mean this one?

http://www.williambowles.info/syria_lebano...rlin_disco.html 'cos he may not have been involved at all.

If we did get rid of him, who would we sell our tear gas, riot shields, cattle prods, ammunition etc..to?

Remember, we've flogged him nearly 34 million quids worth of gear so far.

The reports of genocide are overplayed, although there's no doubt that there's heavy fighting going on and potential for him to order all his opponents to be strung up from the nearest lamp column once the fighting ends..... (his lot seem to have the upper hand now)

But we'll only get involved if it looks like the oil fields were in real danger of being denied the west or being permanently damaged... Body count figures just won't be enough..

We should let those Libyans who want to stand up for their country against their despotic leader get on with it....

What do you know about "the resistance" Blake?

I'm just wondering why you're supporting them.

No he's stating why he doesn't like Gaddafi, not why he likes "the resistance".

Hmm, he's a friend when he's selling us oil, yet our enemy when he's suppressing an intenal revolt, interesting.

I think Gaddafi needs to me eliminated in the interests of democracy and stability in the region.

It was our former disgraced PM Tony who cosied up to him, to our shame.

The resistance is an authentic move for political and social change and democracy. We should be ready to support freedom when it emerges, rather than seeing it crushed. Libya is near enough for us to take action and it is for the right reasons.

Oil has nowt to do with this. It only has 2% of world supplies, not much.

We must defend freedom and stop genocide.

There is a long, long list of dictators that need removing then. Odd how they never get calls for action against them.

You can't just march into a country and impose your own values. That's been tried before and look at the mess that got us into.

Anyway, the Libyan insurgents have stated quite clearly they don't want foreign intervention.

I was not talking about marching in, I was referring to air strikes with the aim of eliminating Gaddafi himself.
