Cost to taxpayers?
It's to be hoped that the obscenely OTT/ poor taste wedding that's happening today does not all £fall£ on
TVP & local taxpayers for the heavy police presence.
Perhaps our PCC will clarify.
All these officers are obviously not carrying out their normal policing duties, whilst
keeping the riff raff at bay from today's nuptials.
Middleton's give me the impression they expect people to jump when they snap their fingers;
hopefully they'll be expecting a large bill for their policing today.
An understandably British reaction if I might say so!
In other parts of the World, the US in particular, having such an event in the neighbourhood would be seen as a big opportunity. We've got an heir apparent's in law's on our doorstep and 'Royalty' is still a big brand in UK and with tourists.
So, let's go for it; we are still the Royal County, let's start seeing lemonade instead of lemons.
(I do a nice line in soveniers if you want some; carrier bags from the Royal Waitrose (£5), bottles of 'Buckleberry Tap' still or fizzy (£15 per case). Plus, tickets for my Duchess of Cambridge Tour are now avaliable.)
