I dont mind paying for my allotment, but I do object to Council Staff getting free parking on the allotment site.
Only tonight the owner of the Audi pulled out of there, no one digs allotments in the snow!!

Yes the Allotment steward said the Councl allow their 'high ranking' employees free parking in the allotments.
The West Mills allotments are very close to the town.

Aren't the allotments managed by the Town Council? If so West Berks can't give permission for employees to park there. Suggest someone is trying it on and Allotment Steward should be suggesting somewhere else to put the car...

Not sure why as the Allotments are managed by Newbury Town Council, a seperate entity.

I know that in the past, a couple Newbury Town Council employees who did not live in the town parked on the allotment site as there is no designated parking (or at least at the time, there was no designated parking) for NTC staff. West Berkshire employees were certainly not permitted to do so.

This is total rubbish, allotments are run by town and parish councils who wouldn't allow district council employees to park on their land.

Are you sure your allotment steward is giving you the full story. As User23 correctly said, this is not run by WBC and anyway, their staff have a huge car park of their own.

It's obvious that the original poster was confused as to which (if any) council employees were parking on the land.

He is a Council employee, not sure West Berks or Town Council. Has own key to let himself into and out of the allotments. Does not dig an allotment, always too smartly dressed even in summer months, never seen anyone digging in designer leather shoes!! Has own personalised number plate on his Audi. Could tell you when he takes his holidays if you like, his car is not there. Also doesnt work weekends!!

You were saying that it was someone from West Berks, now you're not even sure if they're from a council, just that they have a key.

Couldn't just be a mate of the bloke who runs the allotments?

If you read the original posting you will see that "council employee" was used. There was no reference to either Newbury Town Council or West Berks. Lighten up a bit!
