Can't see why, if postie has issue, he doesn't just park on wrong side of road, with his 4 way flashers on.
Can then step straight onto the grass verge; no need to touch tarmac.

Have to say, that doesn't look like a very nice bend - I had a car written off when I was younger parked in something very similar to this, read-ended by a lorry. I was a bit aggrieved at the time, but it was a pretty poor place to park. I think the postie has a point, and getting your snail-mail by 3.30pm rather than 8.30am doesn't seem like such an inconvenience.



Mind you, if it was me, I'd be complaining about those ruddy great red and green arrows someone's painted on the road outside my house.

With my cynical hat on, I'd hazard a guess that those good folk who manage the red vans have simply altered the start point of the round and Mr B. now gets his mail in the afternoon. I'm sure he wouldn't have let that change happen un challenged and as a water tight way out Mr Mail simply blamed health and safety!

It's a peculiar British fettish, peculiar to those of a certain age, to want your mail with your breakfast egg. Weird really, we manage without milk and newspaper deliveries, so why not mail? Not as if it's actually stopped; it's simply later.

Agree with Simon, even when parked on the green arrow a posties van can be a hazard for other road users at peak times. All it needs is a lorry to have to overtake his red van at the time when someone comes hurtling around the corner the other way then the story changes to being one where "Royal Mail should be visiting off peak to avoid road deaths".....

He must be pretty lonely, watching post vans drive by. I'm surprised we get a delivery every day, specially as the need for urgent letters has disappeared. Specially in more country areas I think they could drop mail at a central point and just get people to pick it up when they come by.

This looks to me a health and safety issue, rather than political correctness. The owner will tell you that they are frequently passed by speeding vehicles, so I see the measure as a sensible option. If you look, a postie will be stepping out in to the road on a fairly blend bend, and not only that, stepping out from a van which might have limited rear view.
