Well, the LibDems have come out fighting! Have a look at http://westberkslibdems.org.uk/en/. Do they really think Victoria Ward electorate are so gullible and have such short memories. Perhaps following amended five points might do the trick...

- Pay More
We are all pretty wealthy in West Berks so we knew there was little point in keeping the Town precept down. What's good enough for the Tories is good enough for us!

- Community Involvement
We know you are pretty generous, so would support us throwing cash at any passing cause. With our cash pile, we are even managing to duplicate the work of WBC in lots of areas! That helps them and makes sure they can keep increases at 2%.

- Support the Vulnerable
The Government is changing how welfare benefits are paid. That means community charges will start to become a big issue for the vulnerable. A lot of effort goes into campaigning against the cuts and our spending seriously helps that challenge.

- Delivering for youngsters
Now that's where we really are winning. Just an awful shame we aren't delivering for parents; who have been asking for fences round these areas. Then again, it makes sure a sense of responsibility is distilled into parents to watch their offspring at all times.

- A better Market Town
Quantity isn't quality, so as you won't have failed to notice, the market has got smaller and smaller. Compared with a year ir so ago, its now much easier to walk round the market and with less stalls, you spend less time shopping - must be a plus! Remember, we are the idea party; we'll let you know when we have one, so be assured anyone who comes along with their own will get short shrift from us.

So, vote for us - the 'more for less' party; you pay more, we do less! You know it makes sense laugh.gif

Who wrote their blurb the brothers Grimm? rolleyes.gif

Voters must be really frustrated that there is now no party that they can vote for with any confidence I believe the majority of voters are now completely disenfranchised with the lot of them and the Lib Liars especially. angry.gif

Guess so!! wink.gif

In the interests of balance, I haven't seen a Tory one, but suspect it would be something like this:-

delivered award winning allotments

Really? Award-winning? What award, and from whom?

Quite aside from the lamentably poor efficiency with which they deliver the service, the actual allotment service is terrible.

It's a reality that when you get to the time of life when allotmenteering appeals then one of the essential on a site is a toilet, but none of the six sites has one. They could have, and many site around the country have found funding to install first rate loos, but the funding always depends on engaging with the allotmenteers, and NTC will not.

Of course NTC would know what the priorities were for their allotmenteers if they asked them, but they don't dare, they only tell, never listen. For example allotmenteers have been demanding to elect their own site stewards for many years, but NTC absolutely refuses. The Council appoints the stewards and allotmenteers have no say in who gets the role.

Newbury's allotments are also some of the most expensive in the country. The council would know how their allotmenteers felt about the rents if they asked them, but of course they daren't.

And if rents are high then self-management will slash them, and it would relieve the tax-payer of the £85k burden of supporting this hobby activity, but the town council suppresses any discussion of self-management - and if you know what's good for you you'd better not ask!
