We go to the polls again on the 5th May to vote for the person who will become the next Thames Valley PCC.

Our current incumbent Mr Anthony Stansfeld will no doubt be putting himself forward again but there doesn't appear to be a list of who else is in the frame. As it seems to be a political role, we should see a liberal and a labour candidate at least.

It's quite a good job for a few though.

PCC earns £85k p.a + expenses

Deputy PCC £35k (part time)

Chief Executive * £97k

Finance officer* £80k (* Statutory appointments)

The whole office supported by a staff of 17 or 18 other persons.

Worth noting that Mr Stansfeld is also a conservative WBC councillor for Kintbury.

Perhaps he should get his Chief Constable and officers to investigate WBC?
On numerous occasions I have heard it said it is criminal what they are doing to Newbury! rolleyes.gif

Shame it's only political candidates; why can't they be party free?

They can, independents are able to stand and they are in Avon and Somerset for example.

Look on the bright side, it means there can't be anything more serious going on in Thames Valley!

(To my mind, anyone managing to speed along the A4 these days deserves a medal rather than a fine.)

The one that really irritates me is when they park up just outside the 30 zone as you ascend the A338 from Hungerford. Totally clear of people and houses, there is no danger in accelerating up the hill at all. It's just cynical.

Well, the Conservative boy made it again. A political victory no doubt. PCC and West Berks Councillor. Great he has time for both jobs, nice to have a small backstop. One never knows.
