I've just read the article regarding criminals being "let off"
Is it April fools day?
I can't believe what is happening here. No wonder people are voting for parties like UKIP while this and, I have to say, previous governments fail to listen to and protect the ordinary law abiding citizens from the lazy, violent criminal underclass.
When oh when will a government represent me and the majority of people like me.

I just read that article and my blood has started to boil.

Whats the point in having the police if they are only going to let the offenders off. Whats the point in all of us following the rules and losing out if the criminals can do what they like and get away with it?

Bloggo - I like many others I know have given up with the Police and Law & Order in Newbury. It is utterly pointless reporting a crime unless it is Murder.

Shoplifting - Let off. Burglary - Let Off. Assault - Let Off. Drug Taking - Let Off. Drunk & Disorderly - Let Off. Criminal Damage - Let Off.

The reason that 'crime' is down and that the 'statistics' prove it is that they hardly ever prosecute anyone any more! I know of many dossers now that just walk into shops and help themselves and walk out. They don't even try and conceal the items that they are taking as they know that nothing is going to happen even if the shopkeeper risks assault my challenging them.

I'd want to see more of a breakdown of the cases and the reasons before I take a politicians spin as fact.

How many were dropped because:

Witnesses recanted
complaints withdrawn
suspect failed to appear and have not been traced
offenders already searving prison sentences for other offences
cases dropped because suspects provided information
etc
etc
etc

I totally agree with you. The whole system is a joke and criminals get let off almost everything. Even the people that are found guilty do not get a heavy sentence.

This country needs to start doing something quickly before it gets worse

I am not surprised... this has been happening quite often. This is one thing that annoys me.

It is not spin.... kids just get warning and let off. I know many police officers who have said they are sick on the justice system.

Do you mean 'sick on' or 'sick of'? No wonder we're in a mess if that's what they really do....

Well spotted my friend.... It was put in to see if you are observing properly!!! tongue.gif It was supposed to be "sick of". However, "sick on" does fit in rather well.
