One of the arms on one of my pairs of glasses has decided that it wants to move vertically as well as horizontally. Can anyone recommend a spectacle repairer who might be able to sort it out? I bought them while away from Newbury and the supplier doesn't a branch here and I'm guessing that if I take them to a high street chain they'll just try to sell me another pair.

Try "buy specs direct" they are in Thatcham on the industrial estate near A to Z. They have a big workshop on site if not the cost of their frames etc are much cheaper than on the high streets

Try popping in to a high street optician.

From experience most will complete basic repairs there and then and, if easy, for little to no charge.

If one tries to sell you frames then try another for a second opinion!
