QUOTE (Simon Kirby @ Apr 15 2014, 09:37 PM) *
I suggest that with the statement "I think the issue is..." that I was saying unambiguously that what followed was my personal interpretation of the report and not a quote. You'll also see that I said the "public sector has no profit drive and is motivated pretty much entirely by the vanity and ambition of its managers" - which of course if a ridiculous piece of hyperbole, but nonetheless was directed at the public sector managers rather than the professionals that you listed who work in the public sector who, as you imply, are often motivated by a strong drive to do what they believe in. Buy like I say, what's your answer? Why do you suppose that the public-sector respond to criticism with hostility, defensiveness and denial?
So you asked me to write to the Select Committee to complain about your own personal interpretation.

You're trolling yet again, so that's it from me on this thread.

I'd be very careful with such sweeping statements if I were you.

You're right, he forgot road sweepers. smile.gif

You're a bad sport User, taking your ball home just because you were losing.

The fact that officers in Market Street once again try and hide behind Teachers , Care assistants and Youth workers to hide their own shame just further underlines the truth.

Well done User!

So how do you change a culture?

You flog it all off to the private sector & draft in a nice new raft of 'management' so that the Telegraph reading bankers can make even more cash.

Trebles all round.

Read a History of Berkshire County Council by E R Davis and consider how the Chairman in the late 1930s did it. Not popular with the first class passengers on the Council gravy train.
