I heard on Heart radio that Greenham is to introduce a national first with regards low level crime or nuisance. Sadly, they didn't seem to explain what they meant. Does anyone have any idea what this is about?

It probably answers the question posed perhaps some time ago about mysterious posts appearing.

I reckon the idea is to lock up naughty youngsters overnight with a herd of particularly randy goats.

Nothing noted under "Neighbourhood Security" at the July meeting of Greenham Parish Council, but with as many elected members absent as attending the PC is pretty much irrelevent so if there was some initiative I don't suppose anyone would tell the PC anyways.

Here you go: http://newbury.thebreeze.com/news/local-ne...ed-in-greenham/

It's a restorative justice system involving local people who will chair meetings between offenders and those affected by their crimes.

Apologies to Monty. "You are a very naughty boy Connor"

As soon as they are out of the meeting.....
" silly old biddy." I appreciate it is not always elderly or infirm who get troubled.

Restorative justice can work but needs to be 'expert free'. Also can only operate if the offender has a sense of shame; something often missing. Like any good antidote, will need some follow on and some reserve measures in place for when this wears off.

The scheme itself doesn't sound like such a bad idea, but I have such contempt for the competance and integrity of local government that WBC's involvement undermines the scheme for me.

Anything that encourages a sense of empathy in scrotes is to be welcomes though, so the idea has some merit, but I wonder that it's all too late by the time they're offending. The difficult problem to solve is preventing people growing up to be scrotes. Doing it isn't that diffuclut; social justice, inclusion, enfranchisement, empowerment, and the the dignity of work - none of that is impossibly difficult, but getting such radical changes past a reactionary electorate and grass-roots party membership is not at all easy, and what ideas get through are soon crushed by the self-interest of local government - just look what happened to the Big Society.

Not quite with you. But in another thread a short while back you claimed knowledge of ce's personal circumstances. So, how about you cut the guy a bit of slack? Thanks.

If you mean I read a post he made in public where he made an oblique reference to something personal to him, then yes, but I don't think I have posted anything particularly controversial. I certainly didn't asking him, or tell him to do anything.

To Nothing Much: Please ignore me. I do not wish you to change anything about the way you post on my behalf.
