It's obvious to me that they are there to temporarily protect the traffic entering and emerging from Froud's Lane which all traffic has to use at present as the A340 is closed at the main A4 intersection roundabout due to railway bridge works..

My Dad said it was that but I said it was stupid because people have eyes and can see when it's clear to come out. The volume of traffic is not THAT massive, ok it's more than normal but that's like saying you had 2 shots of milk before bed as opposed to 1. It doesn't really make much difference.
I hate traffic lights in general because - you approach them and then they go red. So they will be green for a 200m drive and then when you are 5m away from them, BANG - Red.
And these ones on the A4 seem to default to the Froud Lane side which means cars doing 60 (or in my case 59) have to brake, come to a stop for 1 second and then accelerate away again.
Is that very carbo-friendly?
