Did anyone get their rubbish collected on Friday as per leaflet from the Council and its contractor?

Mine was collected on the specified day (in my case Thursday - as notified, two days later than usual). They took my paper and plastic recycling, but left the glass (I guess they were full from all the drunken orgies in the neighbourhood smile.gif)

They finally came on 5th Jan but, just like you, they only took the paper and plastic. I, a little paranoid, checked my glass to make sure there was nothing that could have caused them to leave it but it looked ok to me! Have they decided not to collect glass now? angry.gif

I think the simple answer is that they only have a certain capacity for each type on their lorries, and the holiday period would have generated a lot of extra glass waste.

Since they are in catch-up mode, I imagine they don't have time to offload and come back. Unless you are a dedicated wino, I'm guessing you still have space in your box for a bit more smile.gif smile.gif

They are coming tomorrow where I live. We normally have our collection on Tuesdays.

Hmmm, last time I saw them doing the recycling they tipped all of my carefully sorted recycling into my empty black rubbish bin at once and then tipped it all into the recycling lorry. They also haven't taken the garden waste away either but they normally take that in the normal rubbish lorry. I find it all quite confusing although I DO prefer things to be a little more organised! wink.gif

The green waste goes into a different wagon and that's all it collects, at least round my way. Green waste collection has been suspended until Jan 24th, and given the weather, doing stuff in the garden was not high on my list.

I know that it is a completely different wagon for green waste but why do we spend time sorting it into it's catagorised bins for them to just tip it in all together? unsure.gif

I've noticed two different trucks collecting the recycling, the second one just does the glass. They don't come by at the same time luckily, or noone would be able to get their car past!

Well, I don't know which company collects your respective stuff, but where I live Veolia normally takes all the recycling at once, early in the morning. The rubbish bin isn't emptied until around midday (so they'd have a job to use it to mix up the recycling).

Yes, where I live there are two trucks that come from Veolia. The first one collects the normal waste first thing in the morning, usually around about 07:15 to 07:30 and then the recycling truck collects the recyling at approximately lunch time which is why they take advantage of my empty black bin. However, the garden waste is collected separately usually even later in the day.

It all seems to be a waste of my time sorting it into the various bins and also a waste of our council tax as every other week there are 3 collections in one day! Well, hopefully every other week! laugh.gif

Today should be our normal collection day.

The leaflet says it is Friday instead.

This morning practically every house had put their bin out.

Veolia may as well save themselves the cost of printing the newsletters.

Looks like my street takes more notice of leaflets.
