QUOTE (tom1 @ May 24 2012, 01:30 PM) popped into town today to pick up a prescription and I see that the 1/2 hour parking is no longer an option. It was the only task I had to do. what a way to lose the goodwill of ratepayers ! Just park in sainsburys, free for 3 hours

QUOTE (Jayjay @ May 24 2012, 02:50 PM) ...by the Masonic Lodge. You'll need to roll a trouser leg up though. I'm at a loss to understand the decision to remove the 30 minute parking, along with the general increase in parking charges. At a time when many are watching their spend, it does seem counter-productive to effectively charge people more before they've even gone to any shops.

To cover funding cuts by the government, many people are to lose their council house benefit which I agree with.

QUOTE (NWNREADER @ May 24 2012, 08:44 PM) There are out of town pharmacies..... Doesn't really help someone needing to pick up a prescription, though, does it?

QUOTE (JeffG @ May 24 2012, 08:52 PM) Doesn't really help someone needing to pick up a prescription, though, does it? Apologies. By 'pick up a prescription' I thought you meant the tabs, not the piece of paper. Normally there is no need to 'pick up' the prescription as the major pharmacies will do that for you.....

QUOTE (andy1979uk @ May 24 2012, 02:35 PM) Just park in sainsburys, free for 3 hours Not if Sainsbury's get their way, they want to reduce it to 2 hours coz too many people are parking there to avoid the increases in NTC car parks.

It is about making money, not being charitable to the citizens of Newbury and those that use the parking for short stays. I think you confuse the council with those that care.

I think I posted in the other thread about this: how often do you need to spend more than 2 hours in town (or anything like that)? Personally, if I go into town it's for a specific reason, and because I have to.
