I have now reported loads of dodgy roads and potholes to WBC but I note than none have yet been done.

Has anyone else actually seen the legion of potholes being fixed and are they being fixed properly and permanently?

The response seems extraordinarily slow.

A load of them at the bottom of Stoney Lane in Shaw were repaired a while back, but are now the same as they were before. Considering the volume that have to be attended to, I wonder if there are plans to do them properly once the majority have been patched...

Look upon them as negative-aspect speed bumps rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif

Yep, they've been filled down my way.

Not sure if it's a permanent fix though - it might last out the summer!

Having said that I have seen places in other parts of the locality where they are still bad.

Just watch out on the serious pot holes down Fifth Road where those cones are in the middle of the road, i had to move one of those cones over the top of a pot hole i went through assuming i had a blow out as it was so dam loud! I was lucky. It's near the path leading towards the mini roundabout.

Also, i'm sure you all know this one, there is a pot hole in the most rediculas place where you have to swerve to the right to not hit it and then almost hitting the little island in the road aswel. This is after you pass The Swan Pub opposite The Manor Hotel leading towards Thatcham.

Thatcham Broadway is also bad as your going around the bends of the park.

Maybe we should all communicate on here and tell each other where the very dangerous pot holes are? I don't think the Council is doing anything about it.

The council are out fixing them, but given the amount, it will take time. It does also relies on them being reported, rather than assuming someone else has, assuming someone else has etc. etc. etc.

I have reported loads of pot-holes weeks ago and none have been fixed.
Anyway surely the guys responsible at the Council are driving over the same roads as I am and must be seeing the same dangerous situation as the rest of us.
I think that the reponse is not good.
Roads such as the A4 should be a priority.

A lot of roads in West Berks look like they have been bombed.

I think West Berks thinks our roads should be like those in Afghanistan.

Funny you should say that. I was walking down Fifth Road this lunch time thinking it was like living in some third world country.

Odd, since that section of the road was completely resurfaced two or three years ago.

While on the A4 going toward Hungerford this morning i noticed a couple of craters by the Halfway pub. One of them was that bad that if a Motorcyclist happened to hit it they would probably be thrown off. angry.gif

The road from the Hungerford M4 junction and Great Shefford is fast becoming interesting...sames goes for the road that runs around the north edge of RAF Welford.

You're right. Some of those people calling for more and more grit on the roads must be regretting it now.

Imagine what it's doing to people's cars if it's doing that to the road, too.

All salting will do is accelerate the decay that already exists. Potholes are not cause by salting, the road must already have a problem. Freezing water is what usually causes potholes, amongst other things, I understand.

I have seen some improvement over he last few days. Certainly some of the larger craters in the A4 have been fixed.
Thanks WBC. Keep up the good work.

Are you away with the fairies??

You have clearly not seen the "repairs" I have, or the lack thereof.

West Berks Council's attitude to our roads would shame a banana republic.

What I have seen is an attempt by the Council to make the roads serviceable without having to close the road to carryout a full repair.
Any improvement is welcome and although the repairs are not professionally done they do serve the purpose.
I expect that the professional repair will follow on once the patching is completed across the County.
I for one am happy that they are doing something as an interim measure.
