QUOTE (Bloggo @ Oct 5 2010, 09:44 AM) I'll add to that the thoughtless twerps that flick their dog end out of the car window. Every now and then you get one bouncing off of your bonnet. Not only irresponsible but dangerous. Even worse when you are on a bike and you get one in your helmet!!!

QUOTE (DrPepper @ Oct 5 2010, 10:06 AM) Just as bad, if not worse when you are stood in a que/walking and the smoking twerp in front holds his fag behind him (as they all do) therefore blowing the smoke to you. In this situation you probably smoke more of the cigarette than they do.
Hey, wait for all the smokers to start moaning about drinking being more socially unacceptable now - it always happens in a debate like this. didn't mean it to turn into a debate about the cons (there aren't any pros) of smoking. If they want to shorten their lives and ruin their health then so be it. Just a debate about the dropping of fag ends although no one has come up with an argument for it yet!

QUOTE (Biker1 @ Oct 5 2010, 09:36 AM) Why do ALL smokers think it is OK to throw their filthy fag ends on the floor for someone else to pick up? At least it is easy enough to clean up discarded fag ends - chewing gum on the pavement is worse! I wonder how much of that is nicorette?

QUOTE (JeffG @ Oct 5 2010, 10:29 AM) To play devil's advocate, I am just wondering what their alternative is to dropping it in the gutter. The inconvenience of taking it home or putting it in a bin like other litter?

QUOTE (Bofem @ Oct 5 2010, 12:21 PM) Take a look at the little ashtrays on top of the bins around town. Usually full, so obviously there are lots of tidy tabbers out there.
Don't...er....tar us all with the same brush! "Lots of tidy tabbers"! Take a look at the pavements, drains, parks, etc. Come on then Bofem, if you don't want me to tar be honest and tell me you NEVER chuck your ends down as litter!

QUOTE (JeffG @ Oct 5 2010, 10:29 AM) To play devil's advocate, I am just wondering what their alternative is to dropping it in the gutter. As for those who smoke in cars (yuk!), surely they have ash trays? I know newer cars don't but the drivers could make provision for themselves. Chucking the end out of the car window is just as bad as chucking out any litter - and I have even seen that too. A smoking friend of mine has purchased a fireproof pouch in which they stub out and use as a mobile ashtray which can be emptied when convienient, it also has strips of paper for people to use to dispose of chewing gum!

Sounds like a great idea but not everyone is that considerate.

QUOTE (Biker1 @ Oct 5 2010, 10:36 AM) The inconvenience of taking it home or putting it in a bin like other litter? A lit cigarette end is a bit different from a sweet wrapper. Perhaps they should be made to carry portable stubbers around with them. QUOTE (Bofem @ Oct 5 2010, 12:21 PM) Take a look at the little ashtrays on top of the bins around town. A good solution for those smokers prepared to walk into town whenever they have a cigarette.

QUOTE (Biker1 @ Oct 5 2010, 10:36 AM) The inconvenience of taking it home or putting it in a bin like other litter? Think I would rather see cigarette ends on the floor rather than in the bin causing an inferno, especially if cars were parked nearby.
