Parking in the disabled bay is one thing, but parking in the 'parent and child' parking is another. You could have some sport with this if you were that way inclined... (I'm tempted ) When is a 'child' not a child? When it becomes a teenager at 13? What about 16? If I popped into Sainsburys with my child of 22 years of age, in law he's still my child. Interesting to see how robust the restriction is and if it would stand someone refusing to pay up and taking it to court! (I'm tempted, but not THAT tempted..... ) While we're on the subject... just HOW MANY disabled drivers ARE there in Newbury??! Tescos car park seems to have 100s set aside for their use... I'd understand if this was Bournemouth, or somewhere where the elderly and infirm go to see out the last of their days before falling off the twig, but this is leafy Berkshire! It's ridiculous...!

You could try it with a 22 year old, but you'd probably have to put him/her in a buggy and then you'd probably get away with it!!!

Totally agree spartacus. It is very frustrating when a car park is rammed and spaces are at a premium and then you drive past the disabled section and there are loads of spaces that are all empty. Probably a government requirement to have a certain number of spaces I would imagine.

QUOTE (GMR @ Jul 31 2009, 10:31 AM) Are we talking at that point in time or before they leave? Before you leave. Think of the benefits - park where you want, have a nice scooter to wizz around in. I can't see why more people are not doing it. I can't believe people are moaning about having to drive past empty disabled spaces. Think of what it might be like if you were entitled to use one................

Those that are entitled to use them, that is

QUOTE (regor @ Jul 31 2009, 11:09 AM) Oh - by the way, when a Sainsbury warden imposes a fine who gets to keep the £50? Sainbury's as it is their traffic wardens.

If you'd read the full story you'd have seen this: QUOTE The scheme will be run by Euro Car Parks and City Car Parks and any profits generated from the scheme will be donated to the national charity Mencap.
