Blackboard sign outside the LSB. Children Welcome. As long as you remember to take them home when you leave.

QUOTE (andy1979uk @ Jun 14 2012, 02:56 PM) I doubt anyone can afford their stupidly high prices I am of the opinion, that in Newbury, there is a certain clientle that like to be seen to be able to afford the LSB. A 'yes I know this 4 drink round is costing £16.85, but I can afford it......' choke, loser,,,,

QUOTE (Jayjay @ Jun 14 2012, 01:04 PM) Blackboard sign outside the LSB. Children Welcome. As long as you remember to take them home when you leave. That is quite amusing. The LSB is insanely overpriced though - I swear it was about £4.20 a pint last time I visited.

I think that the staff there are a LOT more friendly than most of the primary pubs in Newbury. The cost of the food reflects the fact that it is ACTUALLY all homemade, even the veggie burgers are put together by the chefs. I am a fan of them on facebook and they were nice enough to publish a 20% off food voucher, so if any of you have always wondered but never done:
20% off food at the LSBI don't actually know the costs (rent, council fees, blah, blah...) or anything, but to have a pub right in the centre of town on the nice part of the canal, well...compartatively speaking...who uses their outside space really quite well. I'd expect to pay more than I do at the Hogs Head! Is it just me who appreciates having a nice pub to sit in? I think it is the nicest in Newbs for sure!

Fullers think so too. You can buy a pint of London Pride in the 'spoons for over a quid less than in the LSB & yet the LSB is owned by the brewers of London Pride......!
thanks for the voucher btw That's alright But I doubt 'Spoons look after their ales as much as Fullers do? I used to have a prtner who was a bit of an Anal Ale-er (That word might be **'d out, if so then he was an Ale Snob) and he would not drink ale from 'Spoons because they jsut don't know how to store it or pour it!! I would like someone to have a pint of it in Spoons then a pint of it in the LSB and see if there is a difference.

When it isn't heaving with people I have been offered table service, and just for drinks! My family went there last year for my mothers birthday, we booked a table and were very well looked after, never needing to get up to go to the bar even though they were relatively busy.
