No doubt some of you will have seen on facebook all the talk of those "suspicious" wall markings, be they chalk, scratches or even natural mould growths etc., Some of you might be interested in reading the announcement from Thames Valley Police & Neighbourhood Watch. The complete message can be found by clicking on the following link:

Oh dear,

This was an Urban Myth back in 2006 and it's an Urban Myth now. Why do numpties insist on spreading nonsense?

"don't panic Captain Mainwaring, don't panic...."

Tiresome

I think the Urban Myth goes back a long way. Casual wards and kind hearted folk go together.
Certainly back to Arnold Bennett and Orwell's "Down and out in Paris and London"
These days chalk marks appear on pavements for the chip shop leafletters, as they pass by.
I would still say be curious. They are always after sorting out dodgy guttering.

ANOTHER Newbury Forum??
How many does this metropolis need? unsure.gif
The "other" one is fairly deserted.

By the way, here is a quote from a thread on that forum under the heading "Has This Forum Officially Died?"
"Newbury Weekly News forum did a lot of damage to this forum. What they created though was the same posters writing the same drivel week in and week out, to a point where most of the good ones left. I've even noticed that the owners of their own forum have deserted it and left it to the lunatics."

Merry Christmas fellow lunatics! wink.gif biggrin.gif

ANOTHER Newbury Forum??

I just went to the base URL www.thenewburyforums.org.uk to see what it was all about and all it shows is a blank page.

Edit: Ah! I tried turning off Adblock and it then shows a banner page from the hosting company.

Here's another one Newbury one that seems to be the original poster talking to himself:

I think there's another Newbury forum too, as well as countless Facebook groups and pages.

Because clearly not everyone is as clever and astute as you!

I've painted the 'not worth calling' sign outside my house...it's worked so far!

I just put a bear trap in the front garden. That works.
