Whoever invented these should be shot.
They go off and if the owner is not within earshot on and on and on they go. And be honest does anyone ever take any notice of them anyway and go and investigate if anything has happened to the car? No.

We've got them going off all the time and if you go to one of the main shopping car parks there is always one going off.

Ah, the community spirit, alive & well. You should be thinking 'Crikey, someone is trying to steal my neighbour's car & he is not in - what shall I do?'. Not, 'Bloody car alarm'.

The trouble is in all the years I've been hearing car alarms going off not once was it connected to a theft or an attempted theft of a car. the other problem with the car alarms going off randomly is that when they start becoming a nuisance they lose their effectiveness as car alarms.

Concerning doing something; a neighbour phoned the police a couple of years ago because his neighbours car alarm went off and nobody was there and the police refused to come out because, the said, "they are becoming a nuisance. If we rushed out every time a car alarm went off we would have no police officers for other work." So who do you contact?

Any self respecting 16 year old will be able to disarm a car alarm in 30 seconds flat.I suggest you adopt one as a matter of course ( 6 pack and an oriental takeaway is all they ask per day ).Mine is called Wayne and has a jumper with a hood attached for ease of identity.

Talking about car alarms; we had one going off last night and somebody slammed the window open and for about half an hour swore at it. It didn't make a difference as it continued going off until it wound down.

It's odd how sensitive some car alarms are. I was walking along the street the other day, past a few cars that were parked on the same side of the street, and for no apparent reason a car alarm went off as i was walking past it, i didn't do anything to set it off (even though i'm 18 and wear hooded tops *shock*) either. It must have been really really sensitive.

p.s - I feel i should add that i crossed over to the other side of the road when i was on my way back from the shop past the car, as it was nearly 11pm.

I hate car alarms!! My boyfriend got a new van from work a few weeks ago and at about 3am there was a car alarm going off outside... went on for about 15 minutes before I got fed up and went to see who's it was... turns out it was my boyfriends van

The stupid alarm kept going off at random times of the night after that! He's swapped vans a few days later

You can actually adjust some of them so they won't go off so easily. The cheap ones you can't.
