QUOTE (Timbo @ Jun 17 2012, 08:00 PM) Wouldn't want to turn myself in? Hope they are returned soon but they probably won't be, not in any recognisable condition anyway. Unfortunately I tend to agree but you can only hope. It would at least be nice to think that the thieving little b******s had a bit of a harder job getting around.

QUOTE (Timbo @ Jun 17 2012, 08:25 PM) Maybe a lesson learnt not to keep keys for vehicles in what is, I presume (sorry) a rickety little tin building? Odd conclusion....

QUOTE (Strafin @ Jun 17 2012, 08:59 PM) It doesn't matter how they got in, thieving is thieving. I will keep an eye out, and I hope they catch the scrotes. Thank you, that is very true. Timbo As it happens the office is quite secure and next door to our house (which actuallly makes us feel even worse) but if people are determined to get in they will. Unfortunately it would appear that that there are certain elemets in our society that feel thay can help themselves to whatever they want and we are supposed to roll over and let them! Whatever happend to community and looking out for other people!

QUOTE (wetpawprints @ Jun 17 2012, 09:22 PM) Whatever happend to community and looking out for other people! Nosey neighbours. I have heard of many people's higher end cars getting lifted. Normally they figure out where they live and then break into their house and get the keys. Majority are stolen to order - or to break. These are normally rarer vehicles, or more desirable ones, Evo 10's, Skylines, BMW M cars, Seat Leon Cupra K1, Golf Anniversary Edition 30, stuff like that. They were either stolen and smuggled out, or broken down into untraceable components. For example the steering wheel for a Golf Anniversary Edition 30 sells for £250+ without an airbag. That's the sort of money that is to be made. Although I recall reading in the news about a similar story with farmyard equipment (tractors and what not). It's not right and if it was me, I would be gutted, unfortunately it does happen but hey.

EDIT, Just Googled it. Seems both ways are acceptable!! Is it a derivation of the noun scrotum. If so then scrote is perhaps the adjective.

QUOTE (NWNREADER @ Jun 18 2012, 11:02 PM) I suppose part of the crime problem could be down to those who will not report what they are suspicious about...... This is most defiantly a reason from what I have seen. 'Nosey neighbourhoods' tend to have less crime.

QUOTE (Andy Capp @ Jun 19 2012, 12:36 AM) This is most defiantly a reason from what I have seen. 'Nosey neighbourhoods' tend to have less crime. Also more gossip and more snooping. Some people don't like being watched. I don't. If there was a massive bang or something, then yes have a look, but most people sit at their window for hours watching people's every move. Feels like eyes stabbing in the back.

Feels like eyes stabbing in the back. Most? I'd rather a nosey neighbourhood than one where you had to nail everything down for fear of it being pinched or vandalised. It helps reduce the strain on the old bill at the same time.

QUOTE (wetpawprints @ Jun 19 2012, 12:56 PM) Happy to report that the white Ford Ranger has been recovered from the Mortimer area.
Hopefully our travelling friends will decide they don't want the Isuzu either! I bet it was gypsies
