Yes. I believe newres objects to all medical procedures on religious grounds, not medical. The majority of MCs are done for religious or cultural reasons. Do you agree with that?

But you would agree a massive difference to the quality of an individual's life results in one procedure (FGM) but not the other (Circumcision)??

I disagree with both but one has a seriously more detrimental effect to a persons life. Or am I...to inject a little bit of humour in a pretty depressing subject missing something??

Are any of you aware of how big a thing this is?

I think the Muppets total inability to distinguish a legal procedure from an illegal mutilation speaks volumes. The mental acuity of a gatepost.

So let’s put it another way then that takes into account your defence of male genital mutilation. And bear in mind if you will that Muslims do this too for tribal reasons. It’s not just Jews.

If we found it that FGM had health benefits including lessening the risk of AIDS in a few African countries and was carried out always by a surgeon under hospital conditions and was legal, would you still think it was wrong? The only logical answer you can give is no if you think MGM is ok or you are a hypocrite.

How about ..............Removal or mutilation of body parts because it is thought it may please a sky fairy...........BAD
Removal of body parts for medical reasons where the action would be of benefit to the person concerned............GOOD???

Good and bad are subjective terms; advocates of what many of us see as bad can be argued to be good. Places with a high proportion of male circumcision, places like the Middle East and the US, have researched the subject to support their practice.

FGM is just plain violence, often from which the victim never fully recovers, male circumcision is something the victim often recovers. Neither are usually necessary.

I suggest maybe you should change the first line to read "good" and the second "bad" and see what the response is. rolleyes.gif

But, and this is important, it doesn't.

There isn't really a case for circumcision being beneficial except in AIDS ridden countries unless it's to fix a genuine medical problem. For me, removing body parts of 8 day old babies is just plain old abuse. Far worse than piercing a baby's ears.
