Welcome to Newburytoday.co.uk’s forum

To join in the fun, fill in the registration form and once validated, you will be able to post your thoughts and views on to the forum. Any content posted will still be moderated but this will take place after publication.
If any posted material does not conform to our new terms and conditions (new and existing members please see below), it will be removed.

We are hopeful that the standard of debate which has so far been excellent will continue as will the wide range of issues being aired and the cross-section of people taking part.

Any personal abuse of either forum members or of other members of the wider community will not be tolerated and will be removed and the author either warned or barred from using the forum.
We sincerely hope this will not be necessary and that existing and new forum members will continue to debate local and national issues rigorously and with good humour.

Interesting one! NWN can choose to do what they like, it's their site and who pays the piper calls the tune I suppose. However, the indemnity one would be interesting, because to be meaningful, they'd need somebody and an actual address to pursue. Most operate under pseudonyms and presumably, even in the case where we don't, that can't be accepted at face value. For instance are you the Simon Kirby or a Simon Kirby? (!)

Interesting one!

But why bother to comment now on a 5-year-old post?

Yes, it's been there since the site was set up.
I've drawn attention to clauses 5 b and c several times but no one takes any notice! rolleyes.gif

It's Steve @ NWN's post from two months ago that we're commenting on. I thought it was a curious post at the time but didn't think it would be welcome to comment in a pinned thread, but as I wasn't the first I thought I'd join in - I'm guessing Admin will chase us out with a broom if we're making too much noise.

The 5c rule about linking to other web sites is too restrictive. Linking to other sites in order to promote them is obviously not on as the NWN would want to charge money for that which is fair enough, but linking to sites to provide information and substantiate a point is, IMHO, a good thing. It's also not something I've noticed Admin get the hump about, so as far as I can see it's working fine.

I mentioned 5c mainly because occasionally some folks do use the forum to promote a particular business.
