It was a documented fact that there were communists who were in the peace camps at Greenham.

As long as they were outside the base, who cares...

Communists? So what?

So what, so much for the peace women not being influenced or infiltrated by outsiders to do harm to those inside and outside the base.

So what.

I'm sure there were people of all political persuasions. Anarchists, Tories even. So what?

The Tories weren't as far as I know pointing enough nuclear weapons at us to turn us and the Western world into glowing cinders ten times over. That's what.

So a known Russian reporter and a cameraman, rock up at Heathrow, customs ask for the purpose of their visit, to which they reply, we're going to the Café at Hillier's for coffee and cake. Then leave a day or so later without any questions asked.

Seems plausible to me. All to do with increasing the UK's profile as a tourist destination. Bit like saying all muslims sporting a beard and carrying an AK47 under their frock are terrorists. Evil be to he who evil thinks I say. rolleyes.gif

I'd be amazed if there weren't members of the SWP there, but I wouldn't expect them to be Soviet spies or even sympathisers. Is it ironic though that someone who moans about a perceived lack of freedom of expression feels that people shouldn't be allowed to protest because of their political views?

You can protest, breach court orders and riot if it's against Muslims or in support of some nutty right wing cause, but you're not allowed a peaceful protest if you're a member of the SWP. rolleyes.gif

Well worth a visit it is too. Least they didn't take a hammer to the Magna Carta.

If you want asylum, why not go to the embassy or a border crossing point and officially ask for asylum. If you enter the country illegally, you are not an asylum seeker, you are a illegal alien.

To ask for asylum after you get caught is not an asylum seeker, your still a criminal.

If they are having to be rescued and then taken into land, are they entering illegally? What's the process for this.

They're not asylum seekers, they're economic migrants.

“Britain received less than 4 per cent of all asylum claims made in the EU during last year.”

It should be immediate deportation, as you are trying to enter the country illegally.

They're not asylum seekers, they're economic migrants.

A true economic migrant would go through the border with all their documentation.

The reason why the UK is not getting as many asylum applications as Germany, France or Italy is because we live on a island. If GB was separated from the rest of the EU by a river no wider than the Thames there would be more attempts to enter the UK illegally.
