Newbury Today Forum _ Newbury News _ Wessex Recovery shafted by our Female Chief Constable

Well done Benyon for raising this disgraceful miscarriage of justice by Thames Valley Police, and presumably putting local people out of work.

This seems to be based on unproven allegation of disgruntled female ex employee.
Sisterhood acting in harmony against a nasty male boss?;
the course of action suggested by TVP so Wessex could continue is frightening.
Talk about George Orwell.

I hope they have legal redress, though we poor taxpayers end up footing the bill.

Interesting same day we see that local sex & violent crimes are rising disgracefully.
Roll on when we can vote for local police chiefs as in USA;
current incumbent no doubt suffered positive discrimination in winning her appointment.

I briefly worked at Wessex Recovery last year for a couple of months. The Boss was a great guy and you could always have a laugh with him. I'm female and there was never any suggestion that he would act improperly towards female members of staff.

I'm really shocked by TVP decision to terminate their contract with this company.

Great they you bring this to everyone's attention, shame you have to spoil it with the last line though.

It does seem strange, I wonder if anyone else has had a similar experience?

I find it hard to believe, the boss is such a pleasant man

Can you actually speak English?

Please also actually read the article rather than leaving spurious comments with no knowledge of the case.

A bit harsh, considering it was a simple typo "they" for "that". He was querying whether TVP would choose a Chief Constable based on sex rather than merit, as the OP was suggesting.

I, too, was wondering why the title had to mention the irrelevance that the Chief Constable happens to be female.

While tenuous, I don't think it is irrelevant.

I think the Words 'Kangaroo Court' come to mind. The TVP should concentrate on catching real Criminals....

I agree with that

No need to get all sneery about grammar, it was a simple typo.

I read the article. It doesn't answer the question whether anyone else had suffered a similar fate at the hands of TVP now does it, hence the question.

Highlighting the fact she is a woman seems to be a spurious addition to the original post, would it be OK if a bloke did this, of course not so why mention the sex of the person in question? It just detracts from what was on the whole a good post.

'I wished that organised firework displays were only allowed.' - a fine one to talk laugh.gif

I think it sums up nothing other than TVP's usual contempt. Female chief or not, this division of the police is more "farce" than "force".

Has this company now been sold?
