Ha! I sometime feel like I'm a citizen of some alternate reality TV show dreamt up by those genius people at channel 4.

TM’s post was blatantly predjudice.

"Accepted. No they haven't. Not yet. Odds anyone??" is a statement of fact. Nothing more, but you may for the sake of your ego wish to read more into it.

I havent read a lot of posts on here but at the point Tommy Robinson was arrested, the defendants hadn't been charged. Therefore they are not rapists, groomers or anything else, they are citizens just like the rest of us. That is the very crux of the issue really, because that seperates Robinson from other journalists and sums up why he isn't just doing the same as the others.

Oh dear, Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.

Out side a crown court? where the defendants were appearing? Even with your limited grasp on reality it should be obvious that you can't be a defendant in a Crown court without first being charged?

Plays Phail music!

I think this supports the case, even though they have more than enough dogs today, this problem apparently still exists! Or....dare I say....is the press story fake news?

Wot? In the Guardian?? heaven forbid!!

No, far too scruffy for that, plus it needs major repairs.

Your right, comrade jeremy will need something much grander than that, sycophant towers?

Quite agree that they shouldn't be spending on unnecessary firinge activities, but I can't see what's wrong with what they are doing with the dogs. In simple terms it seems that Police management have worked out that doing this will save a substantial sum without reducing operational effectiveness. So, from my perspective, well.done for that. The article says they'll talk to the Police Trades Union, the Federation in due course. The Federations response so far isn't grounded and doesn't seem of any great moment.

Bit difficult to sniff out drugs and firearms without sniffer dogs old by!

Well first up it's the daily mail so take it with a line of salt

Secondly I it is just as destructive as alcohol, and gives a similar heightened feeling of confidence and agitation

From the Guardian:
"The possibility that the use of illegal drugs, and cocaine in particular, might be fuelling recent outbreaks of violence at racecourses is also being addressed. In the aftermath of the disturbances over the last two weekends, anecdotal evidence on social media and internet forums has suggested that cocaine use is increasing at some tracks, with long queues for the mens’ toilets highlighted as evidence of the problem.

“We always assess the challenges of each raceday on a case-by-case basis,” Julian Thick, Newbury’s chief executive, said this week, “and give thorough consideration to any additional factors in the build-up to each raceday. As is the case across all our major fixtures, we will have sniffer dogs, drug amnesty bins and bag searches in operation across all our entrances on Saturday and an increased number of security staff wearing high-visibility clothing throughout the site.”

On the second point , we bow to your obvious knowledge.

An American divorcée, haven't we seen that before somewhere? How did that end I wonder? Still, another opportunity for the Mrs migginses of the world to go all "ooh, 'aint she luvly me old ducks" and go down the rose and crown for a pint of stout. And it'll give Pippa a chance to sell some more overpriced tat.

There was one pothole which was about 4 inches deep and about 2ft long, about 1ft wide, on a road very near to my house

If you hit it at 30mph it would literally sound like a bomb has gone off.
The road is a 40 limit.
It was also in the direct natural wheel path..

I agree generally round here the roads are not awful but they are not good either

A recent trip to Europe showed how much nicer the roads in France, Belgium, and Germany were.

If they repaired the road properly for let's say £50 / yard rather which lasted 10 years, rather than £30 / yard which lasts 2 years....

I agree, even the back roads in France are better than most A roads here. Still driving that golf??

I find it increasingly apparent that this forum mirrors the political landscape. Lots of huffing and puffing over who said what and the interpretation of the crossed T, but very little substance as to the real issues. Having done a quick trawl through yesterday's results and failing to establish the turnout percentage, one assumes that the party faithful made their cross in the tablet of stone which left a few local issues to encourage some "real" voters to venture out. Of course, like on here, each party is in the blinkered belief that they are the answer to a maiden's prayer whilst the rest are the antichrist personified, yet none of them actually listen to the population at large.

One thing is clear, and that is that TM did better in areas where the demographics point to an older voter. JC, the opposite.

Don't worry, it's classic deflection stuff. The Conservatives are petrified that no one gets near enough to shine a torch on the real cuprit, under whose watch the fire was lit. Whilst they don't like her, the Blessed Theresa must stay in post until their civil war subsides!

The really sporopriate phrase, also coined about a Tory PM seems singularly appropriate now Amber Rudd has gone - 'greater love hath no man that he lays down his friends for his life'.

You mean Tony Blair, labour, 2010. As admitted by labour, on TV. And talking of civil war, how's jc's party at the moment? Short of physical attacks couldn't get a lot worse!

So coining a phrase now makes one Pohl Pot. You’re being ridiculous.

You were wrong though, it was said, it is a fact, you said it was an unsubstantiated opinion and it wasn't. You're not even man enough to admit it. Just keep wriggling away, being abusive, being wrong. Same old same old.
And as for your claim of I've done research? Took me ten seconds to track the program down, so again, you're either a liar or just too damned lazy or stupid to do it yourself.

It was on the Andrew Marr show, its on iPlayer, "seek and though shalt look!"

Quotey thing,

"BBC host Nick Robinson told Ms Thornberry that it wasn't the Tories who first used the phrase "hostile environment", it was Labour.

A UK Home Office report from February 2010 said: "This strategy sets out how we will continue our efforts to cut crime and make the UK a hostile environment for those that seek to break our laws or abuse our hospitality."

Ministers at the time were trying to prove they could be tough on immigration, but voters booted Labour out at the ballot box later in 2010.

Today Ms Thornberry admitted: "Alan Johnson first used it in a speech."

And Billy is still in goal, although he was manager for a bit when the other one retired!

You could check Hansard old chap, it was said in the house after all. I know I read it, but I'm not so desperate to prove a point as to spend time trolling through the net to prove it. Good news about Billy though!

And who is going to pay for this? Unfortunately we still subsidise many public transport services, train and bus. It might be a superficially attractive proposition but who is going to pick up the tab?

Labour are proposing 'free travel' for youngsters, but arguably that's nothing more than actually getting a return on the subsidy cash already being paid out. Labour seem to be learning how market driven economics work; worrying isn't it.

You would think so, but no. Its going to be paid for by 'ringfencing' VED payments, possibly up to the tune of £10b. That's a lot of nurses and policemen, even allowing for the shadow home secretaries math skills. Its just Labour 'clickbait' for the under 21's. next step will be offering 12 months unlimited music streaming! 'cos why not, Politicians are whores so they figure why not buy the votes? It's all going to come out of our pockets, they just won't tell you that.
