This on my local GP's website; £100 for a template letter is disgusting rip off. That's £400 for a family of four "The Downland Practice will no longer be doing Covid-19 Fit to Fly letters for patients. This work is classed as non-NHS work and is chargeable at £100.00 per letter. Patients who are with the Downland Practice who require to have a Covid-19 Fit to Fly letter will need to contact their airline provider in the first instance" |

DECEMBER GENERAL ELECTION:Sad to see that for those of us supporting Brexit, there's no one on the polling paper supporting Brexit, it seems The tory shortlist to replace Benyon was an all female one I understand, not a procedure producing the best candidate for the job. And she's a barrister ; we have far too many lawyers in the Commons already! And why on earth did Tory HQ support a candidate who voted remain with BOJO's commitment to make BREXIT happen. Additionally the Tory & Independent candidates, don't reveal their home addresses, as is now permitted apparently. |

Appalling incident. Said on the news tonight that police are interviewing people living in a group of caravans. That'll no doubt the traveller's camp about 2 miles away at Paices Hill; a location, police are regularly in attendance at. You often see on police documentaries where they are pursuing a vehicle and it turns into traveller encampment; the driver soon disappears into a hostile crowd. Fortunately there was another officer present, so hopefully he can contribute vital evidence, along with police car's cameras. For the murder of Police + Prison officers we should reintroduce Hanging. |

QUOTE (Berkshirelad @ Jun 26 2019, 08:27 PM) I proof read a notice submitted to NWN for my mother.
She went by the name of Michal (which is a feminine spelling); NWN took it upon themselves to "correct" this to Michael, which provides an interesting family tree!
NWN were not in the least bit interested when I complained No doubt blindly allowing spell checker to rule! |

Brave Officers under attack:Shocking footage in last night's C5 programme on PC's under attack; about 35 minutes in it features 2 Newbury based bobbies. This was a couple of years back, and it's to be hoped in a similar scenario now, at least one officer would have a taser. I wondered why the female PC didn't lay into assailant (Mark Davies I recall) with her baton as he pinned her partner down, repeatedly striking him in the face. Retaliation perhaps as Davies was demonstrating huge aggression and had previously savaged both PC's. At least this perpetrator got jail time, unlike several of other attacks featured, all on bodycam; one guy attacked the PC & his dog after a pursuit following fuel theft. He didn't get charged with theft or assault; appalling CPS decision. At least the guy got bitten several times! https://www.channel5.com/show/police-code-z...r-under-attack/https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-...er-hope-up.html |

QUOTE (SirWilliam @ Apr 8 2019, 09:09 AM) My understanding is that it has only recently been introduced owing to the number of "silent" 999 calls. I can see the logic but why anyone would find themselves in a position that they can dial the number but not speak is questionable. A scenario could be that you hear intruders in house, and you want to alert Old Bill, but not Mr Blagg downstairs, rifling through your valuables. Or a female hiding from a brutal partner. |

He also commissioned some spectacular artwork for his abode eg the shark in his roof. After many arguments with local Planning, he eventually persuaded the relevant Minister to allow it; recall it was Heseltine. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/05/23...ment-protected/ |

BBC Thames Valley FMBefore the above local BBC Radio service was split into Berkshire & Oxon output, I used to regularly enjoy listening to the irascible Bill Heine; others may recall him. This piece may be of interest; https://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/news/17536021....ref=mr&lp=1 |
