Good morning folks.
According to this site
http://www.thatcham-weather.info/ the temperature in Thatcham is -9.4C as I type. Go to the 'current' page - unfortunately the otherwise excellent site doesn't allow links directly to any page.
The nearest official reading is for Benson which is currently at -13C -
http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/4180?area=RG14 - by far the lowest I've ever seen, although it may be higher by the time you read this.
The 7 and 14 day forecast for RG14 at
http://www.metcheck.co.uk (again, it's not possible to link to specific pages) suggests that temperatures aren't going to rise above a maximum of zero for the next 2 weeks at least and will often be much lower. The forecast is unlikely to be accurate over that period, but blocking high pressure, which is what we have at present, can hang around for much longer than two weeks.
Just to complete the picture the Met Office forecast for Newbury is also showing below zero maximum temperatures for the next 5 days.
