Newbury Today Forum _ Newbury News _ West Berkshire Council says lockable gates are needed at Northcroft Lane car park

Posted by: Bloggo Dec 15 2009, 01:20 PM

I see there is a new article stating that the tax payer will now be funding gates on the carpark at £5k5 to keep out yobs and vandals.
The gates will be installed in January.
I bet in February we will be paying to repair the gates because the same yobs and vandals have broken them.
What a waste of public funds. Why won't the authorities deal with the root problem and make the penalty for vandalism something to be afraid of.
I thought this Council was a £1 million in deficit and yet it wastes money on compromise projects such as this.
For Gods sake deal with the issue behind all of this vandalism as I object to my money being spent to avoid facing up to the problem.

I'm so so happy for them, i really am... they must be getting so peed off with he amount of idiots driving fast and making circles in the carpark. But but but... do you know, that almost all the houses down there are owned by counselors so if you was to be a prat over there, your almost guaranteed to get boluked, just like me smile.gif and i was being sarcastic at the start by the way.

You only learn until you get your self a section 59.

There's a fair number of houses down there..... Are there that many Councillors??

Anyways Good Boy Racer, if you feel that strongly about it then remember that it is an open consultation and any road user can comment/complain/object to the proposed change. The consultation ends tomorrow.

You can log into the Council website and if even one person submits an objection it can delay the introduction as reports have to be prepared and decisions made. The consultation can be found here:

http://consultationfinder.westberks.gov.uk/consultation_Dtl.aspx?consult_Id=471&status=2&criteria=I

Go on....You know you want to...........

As for 'nefarious acts' ......I assume that the car park served as a meeting place for local doggers? Wouldn't exactly call squealing tyres or boy racing 'nefarious'. Annoying maybe

I just heard a rumour that's all.... well answer me this, can you get a section 59 in the post from the Police for being in a carpark and 'maybe' being noisy, from a random member of the public living in that area? You could lie and still get someone into trouble... unless they have photo/video evidence, but then that involves court dont it? Anyways, that was in the passed, just annoying how the police work these days. I only mention the section 59 because i am pretty sure, considering the certain people living in that area, they have more power than other members of the public.

What 'certain people living in that area'? Last time it was councillors (unless you meant counsellors?), now its 'certain people'. Your paranoia is getting the better of you - perhaps you should simply stop making a nuisance of yourself in car parks?

yeah.... Go on off up to McDonalds car park and rev your little engine to your hearts content... You'd just be annoying the spotty herberts behind the counter up there, rather than all those councillors in their houses in Northcroft Lane....

Doesn't make you sick.
Here we go again. The Police won't be able to catch them and even if they did they would be let off. Guess who will pay for the repairs?
What a state this country has become. Like the wild west. angry.gif

Well, that's what happens when the Law fails to protect you your belongings. The temptation is to protect yourself and the indications are that the trust that people have had in the Police force and Justice system is slowly weakening because of the failure to protect people and deliver a credible deterent to crime.

They'd be more likely to shoot you, being outlaws.
