No mention made of any attempt to recover any of the stolen £12k; stolen from WBC taxpayers.http://www.newburytoday.co.uk/news/news/14...ught-again.htmlSentence is hardly a deterrent in my view; no doubt the funds were channelled back to Romania. As a serial offender, the pair of them should be deported forthwith, as should other aliens, who abuse their hosts.

This excuse of not having English as a first language seems to work very well indeed doesn't it !!

QUOTE (Turin Machine @ Jul 16 2015, 06:21 PM) Nah, he's an immigrant inne, gotta love n cuddle him, according to some it's he that will be the salvation of the UK. The argument is: why the need to highlight the origin of the person? Is the implication that Eastern European immigrants are more likely to break these laws? Or is this an argument for more strict immigration laws?

Or is this an argument for more strict immigration laws? They're reporting on facts. And bringing up the origin of a person at the centre of a criminal investigation, especially regarding benefits, always is interesting.

"Another Eastern European thief in our courts" Really, is there any need to racialise crime? As a former police officer and an academic in the field of criminology and criminal justice there is no evidence to support the supposition that people commit crime because of their ethnicity. If anyone wishes to challenge this position then feel free to enrol at Southampton Solent University on the MSc Criminology and Criminal Justice Course where you can debate the matter live with me and others for hours. Yours Ruwan Uduwerage-Perera

QUOTE (motormad @ Aug 6 2015, 04:34 PM) I don't think anyone is saying that Ruwan.
It's bad someone is allowed to immigrate into this country, then steals, doesn't have to pay back what they stole, and then is allowed to continue their residency here.
THAT is wrong, of any culture. The argument is that deportation is not an option for indigenous people, so it is wrong to treat others different.

Ummm, I think if we went to Australia and committed crimes, we would be deported. So I see nothing wrong with being deported if you are committed of a blatant criminal act. Too softy in this country.

QUOTE (je suis Charlie @ Aug 9 2015, 08:07 PM) Where, exactly, do you deport an indigenous person to? Exactly the point. To deport someone is treating a foreigner differently than an indigenous person. Gaol or a fine is considered appropriate, why should a foreigner have an extra punishment?
